The Hawthorne Effect a surveillance and conspiracy solo TTRPG

Introducing The Hawthorne Effect! A new solo or duet TTRPG with a creepy old computer application vibe about surveillance, uncovering conspiracies, and how people react when they discover they're being observed. Surveil your subjects and slowly uncover a grand conspiracy you can choose to either help or hinder.

During your play you'll have to figure out what your subjects are up to, and just why your institute has you observing them.

Do you want to support the creation of an amazing modern ghost hunting game whilst also getting a frankly obscene amount of games at the same time? Well for only ยฃ20 you can buy a collection of 27 of my games!

All of this money will go towards What Haunts Us, allowing me to pay the editor, layout designer, and extra writers!

The games include Grotty Gobbo's Tea Grotto, Pirouette, and the What Haunts Us beta!

What Haunts Us is a ghost hunting TTRPG that will be kickstarting from Halloween 2025!

It focuses on the emotional core of hauntings as well as those who investigate them. Players investigate haunted locations, help ghosts move on, and try to survive their dangerous life long enough to fulfil their own unfinished business, before they become the very thing they dedicated their life to hunting.ย

I wanted to run through some of the things that excite me about it!

The excesses and hidden violence of our current society create wounds in the world from which demons emerge that hunt the vulnerable. In Mad as Hell, you play as a Radical, individuals who have decided, with the backing of their Communities, to fight demons and make the world a better place.ย

The only way to kill demons is to understand what quiet violence created them in the first place, work out how to solve that problem, and turn it into a weapon. You might kill a demon of mouldy water with a purifier, or a demon of bigotry with a pride flag. Unless you address the root cause of the problem, the wound in the world will continue to fester, and the demon will be reborn, free to wreak havoc. To defeat the demon truly, you need to make meaningful social change in your communities and help those around you.ย

The game is intended to create a safe, lightly fictionalised environment for aspiring and current activists to become familiar with the methods used in community organisation and direct action. It helps provide a structure that mimics the real-world approaches to tackling injustice through a radical lens, and takes action against capitalism.

The world is dying, choking in heat and smoke and microplastics. And that's not an inevitable thing, an impossible to overcome thing, it's a choice being made. People with power, who have made pacts with the forces of horror in our world, have made an ideological decision. They have done it before, they will do it again. They'll do it every single time, unless we stop them.ย

What Haunts Us: A Modern Ghost Hunting TTRPG

I've been working on a modern ghost hunting TTRPG for a while now and it's finally at a point where I can start showing people it!

What Haunts Us is a ghost hunting TTRPG that focuses on the emotional core of hauntings as well as those who investigate them. Hunt ghosts, help them move on, and survive long enough to complete your unfinished business before you become the thing you dedicated your like to hunting.

I'm really excited for the way it merges horror and emotional distress to create super sympathetic ghosts whilst still allowing for that creepy horror movie vibes!

Also the aesthetic is super exciting for me, our layout designer is doing amazing work to deliver a messy casefile vibe, lot's of stationary and scraps of information

Crowdfunding now and close to the first stretch goal!

Pirouette is a solo journaling #ballet game where you play as a dancer performing for an eldritch horror

Experience the dread of rising tension as you try to land a Grand Jete en Tournant

Pirouette was designed with the advice and guidance of a professional ballet dancer, ensuring it feels authentic to the art of ballet whilst mixing in the tension, horror, and emotional core of the journaling experience!

The ashcan version of Serving Up Distaster (A TTRPG of kitchen nightmares) is available now.

It's pay what you want for now, mostly want to get some feedback and hopefully raise a little money for a proper edit/ layout / art

In this game, one player takes on the role of the GM, narrating and hosting the game while playing the character of The Chef. The remaining players act as the staff of the restaurant Chef is visiting, playing out their own dysfunctions and disasters.

Each session follows the same 5 act structure: Introduction, Chef Tries The Food, Chef Observes Service, Refurbishment, Relaunch Night. Throughout each session Chef will help this new set ofย characters will to come to terms with their problems and failings.

I had kinda hoped to have version 2 ready for dragonmeet but time has got away from me and my hyperfocus dwindled ...

Happily taking any constructive criticism & feedback to spur it on again

SWORDTEMBER DAY 18: STEEPED

Tea-Leaf, of bubbling water and chipped porcelain โ˜•๏ธ๐Ÿƒ Let it brew for a few minutes, the flavour is shy, and needs time to warm to you. Give it patience, and respect, and it will warm your bones, ease your pains. Smell the steam, fragrant, delicate. Feel the warmth through the cup. Even the hardiest of adventurers need a tea break.

Take a moment to rest and have a cup of warm tea :}

Wanna ttrpg with cards instead of dice? Want to create a world and then burn it with your friends? Do you like Enneagrams? Open up a nice deck, gather some friends, and enjoy a GMless dose of Neon Shadows! Play as one of the 9 ennegram based playbooks, create a world with a blank map, and begin to tell the story of your characters as they follow their desires. Will you save the city from a ruthless govt? Maybe trek the wilderness of the world outside the city? Explore old Aether mines? It's your story to tell, how will you tell it?

Happy new years everyone!

2023 has been a wild ride for me. so much has happened but for game design this year I have:

๐ŸŽฒRevamped and redesigned 10 games I'd previously published

๐ŸŽฒDesigned 4 new TTRPGsย

๐ŸŽฒHomebrewed 3 DnD adventures (+ a few more that is unpublished)

๐ŸŽฒDesigned a further 3 games that need working on

That feels like not much at all but knowing that all of these were passion projects, I am so happy to have game design in my life.

Very soon I will have been doing this for 2 whole years and it's hardly become a potential career yet but I have met so many amazing people in that time, I've experience so much unconditional support from people I can't wait to get to know more!

It's been a weird year, but I am very excited for 2024 and optimistic of what's to come!
