Summary:
“Oh,” Mensah said. I followed her gaze to her lion daemon. Sadik was so large he took up most of the rug and dwarfed the coffee table where, I realised with a jolt, my own little beast had been hiding. I rounded the coffee table. Beast had buried itself deep in Sadik’s mane, pressed up against his neck. It blinked back at me slowly, almost smug, and then pressed even further against Sadik. Another fission of heat ran through my chest, like I’d been made to swallow hot coals. (OR: A touch-averse Murderbot learns to live with a touch-seeking daemon.)

Trauma and stress can physically age people, especially if someone is stuck in a harmful environment for years…
Give me a Stan who has gray hairs by his 20s frown lines etched into his face like scars and eye bags that have become a permanent fixture in his face. A Stan that looks at his brother( even with his bloodshot eyes and unwashed face) and thinks he looks young compared to Stan, without graying hair, wrinkles and scars marring his face.
It’s only after 30 years that they actually look like twins again and even then, time has not been kind to Stan or Ford over the years. But maybe, after sailing around the world together it is, maybe they look more free and unbound by time as they laugh and live for the first time in years together as twins.
