All protein-coding genes use ATG as a
start codon except for COI, which started with GTG.
Start and end codons were annotated using the bivalve mitochondrial codon table and BlastP was used to confirm the position of the
start codon and the length of the protein sequences.
In this phenomenon, Met 62 or Met 116 acts as a second
start codon. When a premature termination codon arises in the upstream sequence, the downstream sequence of Met62 or Met116 can escape nonsense-mediated mRNA decay and translate into protein with residual function [Figure 1]c, resulting in blockade of the metabolism of AdoCbl in mitochondria.
The reference sequence was according to Genbank accession number Z26653, with the A of the ATG
start codon on position 1.
Lee and Kwon presented consecutive DE multiple bit embedding (CDE-MBE) [17] and least-squares-based prediction error expansion (LS-PE) [18] of neighbor code values of noncoding DNA sequences while preventing a false
start codon. They reported that LS-PE has 0.36 bits per nucleotide base (bpn) more than CDE-MBE [18].
The objective of this study was to use two molecular marker systems,
start codon targeted (SCoT) and inter-simple sequence repeat (ISSR), to assess the genetic relationship and diversity of 75 sugarcane parental clones from Chinese sugarcane breeding program.

Tusavims has a potential upstream
start codon MSS in a weaker Kozak consensus sequence than MAQ (Figure, panel A), which we selected as the
start codon.
