19, 2019 (HealthDay News) -- Symptomatic gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is associated with chronic temporomandibular disorder (TMD), and the correlation is partially mediated by
somatization, anxiety, and undermined sleep, according to a study published online Aug.
Among specific topics are health disparities in pain management,
somatization disorders, abdominal pain, osteopathic manipulative medicine, and the role of naloxone in pain management.
This instrument consists of 53 items, assessing 9 primary symptom dimensions:
somatization (a = .77, with the sample of this study), obsessive-compulsive (a = .87), interpersonal sensitivity (a = .74), depression (a = .91), anxiety (a = .81), hostility (a = .70), phobic anxiety (a = .79), paranoid ideation (a = .86), and psychoticism (a = .71); and 3 global indexes of distress: global severity index (GSI), positive symptom distress index (PSDI), and positive symptom total (PST).
Common mental disorders (CMDs) are a subgroup of MDs normally treated by primary health care services encompassing both emotional suffering and depressive-anxiety disorders and
somatization. The literature shows that CMDs are prevalent conditions among primary healthcare service users (10-12).
A direct correlation and statistical significance was found, with medium effect size between the dimensions of
somatization and the stressors (r(152)=0.58; p0.30) (Table-1).
As shown in Figure 2, anxiety disorder had the highest frequency of clinical syndromes (46%) among the participants in this study,
somatization was 25.5% and dysthymia had the lowest frequency (11%).

somatization of sexual health and failure to meet the physical and mental needs of young people.
Kose et al31 showed positive and statistically significant correlation with Whiteley index (WI-7), somatosensory amplification scale (SSAS) and the
somatization sub-scale of symptom checklist (SCL-90-R).
Heightened somatic awareness, also known as
somatization, is associated with depression (13), which makes it logical to explore these psychological factors concurrently.
Somatization is the experience of psychological distress in the form of bodily symptoms.
