The performance of Britten's Four Sea Interludes from Peter Grimes was a mixed bag: percussion was often
overinsistent and intonation problems made the storm section sometime raucous in the wrong way.
He did admit that his judgments are "huge generalities," but didn't stop at saying we are oversensitive and
overinsistent that we are right "despite the overwhelming proof that they are not."
As usual, Eastwood's score is a tad
overinsistent if melodically spare, its few notes reiterated on various instruments (including piano, guitar and harmonica) and supplemented by snippets of Rachmaninoff.
