He explains that when one scrolls down on a webpage in Chrome, the
URL bar is hidden and reappears when one scrolls back up.
Press it now and see what it does it's hiding under the four lines on the left of the
URL bar.
The warning appears in the
URL bar: instead of the usual green padlock and the word 'Secure', you'll see the words 'Not secure' if you land on an unencrypted page.
You can activate it right now by entering chrome://flags/#enable-site-per-process into your
URL bar, then clicking Enable next to "Strict site isolation." Chrome 64 will have more protections in place when it launches on January 23.
Always look for that padlock icon in your browser's
URL bar to make sure you are shopping securely.
When buying online look for the padlock sign under the
URL bar on the payment page so you know the website is secure.
They should verify that they see the green lock in the browser's
URL bar and that the URL matches the name of the bank site that they wanted to contact.
No one's typing "World News Daily Report" into their
URL bar directly, or searching Google for news that didn't actually happen.
* For online banking, check for the lock icon in the
URL bar and the "https" address to be sure you have a secure connection.
Search engines will need to evolve their algorithms to reflect the relevance of the new gTLDs and the web traffic they will generate, and offer direct search within the
URL bar. Some are already taking proactive steps in this area, with Google having set up a dedicated gTLD business unit to run the infrastructure of 100 new gTLDs.
