Ham·a·dan
(hăm′ə-dăn′, -dän′) A city of western Iran west-southwest of Tehran. An ancient city, it was captured by Alexander the Great in 330 bc and later ruled by Seleucid kings, Romans, Byzantines, and Arabs (after c. ad 645).
