Final hours in power | Al-Assad gave up everyone and his plane did not accommodate military commanders and senior officials
Bashar refused to deliver resignation speech and ordered dissolution of the army under pressure by Russian authorities
Reliable SOHR sources have reported that Bashar refused to deliver the resignation speech following the successive developments in Syria, which started with taking control of Aleppo by the HTS-led Military Operations Administration, and after Moscow refused request by Al-Assad to establish a state in the Syrian coastline, where Moscow considered this request as a project to tear Syria apart.
According to SOHR sources, Bashar depended on support provided by Tehran in his final battle against Syrian people. However, the Iranians gave up regime forces after Aleppo battle, while the Russians also gave up regime forces after their defeat in Hama.
On December 8 after 12:00 am, commanders in military sites received orders via radios to dissolute the army, take off military uniform, put in plane cloths, leave military positions and barracks and head to their homes.
It is worth noting that Russia granted political asylum to Bashar Al-Assad and his family.
According to SOHR sources, military and security commanders remain in Syrian territory, except for a small number of commanders who managed to escape from Syria, such as Maher Al-Assad and other top commanders.
With the successive developments and Al-Assad’s intransigence towards delivering resignation speech, commanders of the Syrian regime army and security services left Damascus and returned to their homes in villages in the afternoon of Saturday, December 7, fearing assassinations, while individuals close to Russian forces have been hiding in Hmeimim base.
SOHR sources have confirmed that the orders to kill Syrians civilians were issued by Bashar Al-Assad and under direct instructions by commanders of the military and security services.
SOHR sources have also confirmed that the decision to destroy the military assets of Syrian army by Israel comes with Russian forces’ consent.
Since the announcement of the toppling of the “dictator,” Bashar Al-Assad, on December 8, the Syrian Observatory has documented nearly 352 airstrikes carried out by Israeli fighter jets in 13 Syrian provinces.
Israeli airstrikes have destroyed Syria’s military assets, where the airstrikes focused on Syrian airbases and their contents, including warehouses, aircraft, radar systems and military signal stations, scientific research centres and weapons and ammunitions warehouses in different positions across Syria. The attacks resulted in complete suspension of air-defences and put all targeted positions out of service.
