Hitachi has developed three sizes of standardized straddle-type monorail systems with carrying capacities ranging from 2,000 to 25,000 passengers per hour. It has also refined its driverless train operation (DTO) system, which allows trains to operate without an on-board driver. The DTO system has now been demonstrated on a commercial monorail route in Japan.
