Além do manto

De 20/5 a 18/6 2023
Complexo Cultural Funarte SP
Alameda Nothmann, 1058 - Campos Elíseos, São Paulo
Concepção, organização, instalação: Sandra Lapage @sclapage
Instalação sonora: Bruno Gold @bruno.f.gold
Textos: Cadu Riccioppo @carloseduardoriccioppo

Sandra Lapage presents the exhibition "Além do Manto" starting [05/20th, 2pm] at the Fundação Nacional das Artes, in São Paulo/BR. With a critical text by Cadu Riccioppo, the exhibition reveals more than 20 works (produced between 2019 and 2023), which include sculptural textiles, wearable pieces, photo-performances and video-performances arranged in a meander which plays with notions of gravity and weightlessness, incompleteness and imperfection, chance and mystery. The installation is punctuated by a sound scape created by Bruno Gold. The event was selected in the Public Open Call for Permission to Use Spaces at Funarte SP - 2022-2023 and has the support of Galeria Eduardo Fernandes and Beck's. The installation is on view until June 18th.

Notas para uma exposição
1.
I have measured out my life with coffee spoons
T. S. Eliot, The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufock

2.
Broken china was to be found in plenty, but broken in some trifling domestic accident, without purpose or character (...). The finest specimens he would bring home and place upon his mantelpiece, where, however, their duty was more and more of an ornamental nature, since papers needing a weight to keep them down became scarcer and scarcer
Virginia Woolf, “Solid Objects”

3.
As galochas estavam severas e apertadas.
Maiakóvski, “Vladimir Maiakóvski: uma tragédia”

4.
Tom Jobim, “A felicidade”

5.
Por que andam as ondas me indagando / sobre as mesmíssimas perguntas?
Pablo Neruda, “O livro das perguntas”

6.
In my hungry fatigue, and shopping for images, I went into the neon fruit supermarket, dreaming of your enumerations!
Allen Ginsberg, “A Supermarket in California”

7.
I swam across the rocks and compared myself favorably with the sars. To swim fishlike, horizontally, was the logical method in a medium eight hundred times denser than air. To halt and hang attached to nothing, no lines or air pipe to the surface, was a dream.
Jacques-Yves Cousteau, “The Silent World”
