I'm procrastinating again. I'm supposed to be writing to build a small backlog for my upcoming vacation but it got me thinking.

What's the most deranged thing you've done that your friends would definitely debate calling the psychologist to get you locked up?

Here's mine: 
I've watched airplane crash investigation videos for an entire night...

...when I had an 8 hour flight scheduled for the next day.

Yeah...

Spend so long studying circunbinary planets that I swore I was almost going insane.








I still am studying them

Flew across the country to visit (and stay with) a friend I only knew from a video game forum (it was 2004, a simpler time, and I was very young).

Except I just moved countries cos he said it'd be better and I was like "yolo" 

I was neither young nor was it a different time, I just didn't care.

Oh yeah, there was also the time I took a bowl of whipped cream to bed and ate the whole thing. It sounds a little R-rated but it really wasn't. Just me tucked in some warm blankets eating whipped cream. My husband thought I was insane, and shortly thereafter I got sick and developed dairy intolerance. Hmm... coincidence?

I don't regret a thing.

I have a similar story with my boyfriend, but I flew across the ocean. I was already going as a study abroad student.

 That didn't stop my grandmother from warning me about creepy men at train stations! 
We've been together 12 years now.

Oh man. I have so many good ones with my study abroad year 😅

The most insane, then I need to go write. 🥲

I didn't have a place to stay for my year abroad, I also didn't know if my residency permit was approved.

I flew over anyway, spent 3 weeks in hotels and hostels until I magically found a room in sketchville central Utrecht. 
It was with 4 other students but it was such a blast. I lived dirt cheap in freaking Utrecht, a 10 min walk from the train station.  The main square and canal was also a short distance away.

And my permit was approved 1 month after school started.

I used to walk for hours alone in Boston in the middle of the night, completely unarmed. It's all fun and games until a man grabs your foot.

I’ve lived a life of interesting choices.

When I was younger I would go to our favorite bars (and cinema) with a fixed blade knife around my ankle.

Good old fashioned paranoia. (And a little bit of cringeworthy edgyness tbh) but mostly paranoia.
