Czechoslovak gymnast Bohumila Řimnáčová had a successful career with the national team in the late 1960s and early 1970s. In 1966 Řimnáčová was part of the Czechoslovakia team that won gold in the team event at the World Championships in Dortmund. This performance secured her a place on the Olympic team for the 1968 Mexico City Games, where she won silver in the team all-round event. She also finished fourth in the uneven bars, fifth in the floor exercise, and seventh in the individual all-round event. Two years later she won bronze in the team event at the 1970 World Championships in Ljubljana. Řimnáčová was then named as an alternate for the 1972 München Olympics but did not start. After retirement she studied for a degree in organic chemistry whilst still training as a gymnastics coach. Řimnáčová helped to pioneer aerobic gymnastics in the Czech Republic and established the sports and cultural centre in the village of Ondřejov in Praha.
