The normalizing feature was added this past month and is intended to help avoid having to adjust volume up and down while listening to songs (and also avoid attempts to damage people's ears). Finding and turning it off wasn't too hard but having it on by default was... new and exciting, took me off guard, I'm probably just over reacting. Normalization sounds very similar to dynamic range compression, though I'm getting the vibe that it's not. Reading about it now, guess it's the default on every music application that I don't use, figures. Audio mastering is one of those subjective arts and some people want a huge sound, this feature is automatically going to offend the artists that pride themselves on loudness and fidelity... had someone mention the normalization on a track of mine about a week ago and had no idea what they were talking about, thought I fucked up my mastering somehow. It might not do anything to the sound other than adjust volume but expect a few people to get really confused by it.

Was helping to judge an audio contest today and realized there's this new "audio normalization" feature that is turned on by default and squishes sound, makes everything quieter. It's not a necissary feature, the volume knob already exists for a reason. It is causing me some stress in that I might have to go back and listen to every song I judged today with that feature turned off so I can hear what the artists are trying to convey without this added "normalization." When was this thing snuck in?

Ok, technically not a character I "came up with," it's my friend's dog. Thought Klobig was a hella sick name so I made this Heavy Metal Death Gnar album cover satire. It's supposed to be a joke, the background is from an old Dio album cover I photoshopped over. Does Klobig get his own boss music? Am I too late? I'm too late :'C

In the darkness it was created to control men. A force of evil so intense that it could turn friends against each other. Betrayal, darkness... evil... twilight... darkness...

Just kidding, I wrote this thing inspired by this other thing and together they make stuff:

I toil in the darkness, notes screech across a sequencer. A scream rings out in the night, a baby cries. A howl picks up on the wind, is it a monstrous wolf or an elderitch horror? Tantacles slither across a piano, a lone note pierces the darkness. It's the key of C.

I hadn't even heard that term actually... wonder if we've really had any small governments during my lifetime, feels like everything's been getting progressively more and more intrusive, and regulated, more and more instances of control developed under the pretenses of progress, integrity and safety. Even if it's all done with good intent bureaucracy has a tendency to compound, and the reasons for cumulative regulation muddle.

We could probably use some kind of societal reset, like the Mayans used to practice. Every few centuries just burn everything down and start anew; begone all old, outdated non-serving dogmas and customs...

There never was "small government," it was just a tagline used by republicans to paint an image of a government run by the good-old-boys. I'm kind of surprised you've never heard a conservative go on about how a government should be small enough to have absolutely no effect on our lives but big enough to tell gay people they can't get married. A government should be small enough to not have the power to take away our guns but big enough to supply all our police with military gear and weapons. "Small government" has been used by conservatives in the US as a subversive talking point for at least the last 50 years. The only time in our history we had anything resembling a "small government" was at the start when we had a much smaller country anyways and the only people that could vote were white land owning males.

I also like the phrase "constitutional originalist" because everyone seems to forget that part where white land owning males had all the power. Clarence Thomas claims to be a constitutional originalist, which is probably the most entertaining fact about his political views. Sorry if I displayed any political bias in my response but I really find the term "small government" an annoyingly deceptive phrase.

Wishing everyone good luck once again☮♥🎴

Hey, sorry for the late response but yeah, this cannot be accepted as an NGADM entry as unreleased tracks (which I have understood this track to be) do not fulfill the section 4.1 criteria: "The track must be a completely new production, with no work having been performed on it before the round for which the track is to be submitted to has begun".

In addition, while one is indeed allowed to have other artists on your submission in a featuring role when not in a team, I'd like to in general remind that all the writing (both instrumental and lyrical) must be done by you, the producer.

Just going to put in that this rule is stupidly stringent. The vocal samples in my song were paid for a month or so before auditions; $200 out of pocket. I directed Plasmarift to record multiple monologues specifically so that I could chop and sample them up for ANY of my future EDM projects. The vocal samples in question have never been used before (other sections of this monologue have been used though). Using your own words, my song is disqualified and I never considered this to be a problem because I sourced all my samples ethically and worked closely with Plasmarift to get the most out of the process to get what I wanted.

The "I love you and I've always loved you" was recorded by me for a previous NGADM compilation put together by LD. Guess I can't sample myself either?

Feel free to disqualify, I love getting booted from NGADM. It's like a fetish or something:
