This is a chip off a largish block of jaspillite with layers of tiger eye running though it, found in Wittenoom Gorge.

This is a scanning electron microscope (SEM) photograph of "blue asbestos" from the Wittenoom Gorge Mine. Note the 10 micrometer scale on the bottom of the picture. Some of the finer fibers were measured at 0.1 micrometers across. The tiny size of these fibers helps to explain the toxic nature of this mineral.

Bicolor, brick red to blue-gray, asbestiform, cross-fiber vein section of Riebeckite Var. Crocidolite 2.5 cm tall, 2.9 cm wide, and up to 0.6 cm thick, with a small amount of matrix on the top and base of the vein.
