Research Partners

Mindat.org is committed to scientific discovery within all areas of science that our database can assist with.

This doesn't necessarily limit our research partnership possibilities to mineralogy, we have worked with people before who want to use our large data sets for pure computer science research, we have worked with archaeologists, historians and biologists amongst others.

We also have opportunities for commercial research use of our data.

A partnership can be simply providing access to data (either through custom web interfaces or a simple data download). Our rules are simple and that is we do not allow any use or publication of our bulk data online except with our explicit permission. A guideline, and not a rule, is that if you wish to use our data, and you have data of your own that may be useful for us, that you should offer us use of your data in return for using ours - but we appreciate this is not always possible.

We can also undertake joint research and become true partners with a research project if it is something that our skills and expertise can bring a benefit to the project.

Please contact jolyon@mindat.org if you have any enquiries.
