It’s smart and funny and makes great effort to capture not just a time and place, but the specific feelings of being on the verge of adulthood and thinking the world is against you.

Even with these minor complaints, it’s hard to deny that It is anything but a triumph. The craftsmanship is impeccable, the performances incredibly strong..., and the fidelity to the source material, in spirit more than specificity, is admirable and appreciated. Had the story given even more time to breathe, it would have been one of the greatest Stephen King adaptations ever. As it stands, it’s simply a very good one.

It 2017 scared me the opening scene where you see Georgie's arm gets bit off really scared my soul and and through the jump scares for the movie I felt my whole body just left my body and just went far far away because of how scary the movie was and I had three lucid dreams about the clown and I try to watch it 2017 at my Nana's house on my PlayStation right in the middle of the night because there was a school night and I was at the part to where Beverly cuts her hair and the drain so I had to like turn it off and I was upset but I did watch it 2017 on Blu-ray because I got it on Blu-ray when it came out and I gotta say the kid actors did such a good job playing the losers club and I love that Bill Skarsgård was a perfect Pennywise like just delivered a scary horrifying clown that just literally gives you like jump scare horror elements and just makes Pennywise look so scary and so creepy that will just make you want to literally turn it off or cover your face with a pillow for how scary it is through the whole movie if you have coulrophobia which is the fear clowns

If it doesn’t rewrite the rules of horror, it calls attention to them, in a manner that is not just flamboyant, but also baroque.

It is essentially two movies. The better by far (and it’s very good) is the one that feels like a darker Stand by Me — a nostalgic coming-of-age story about seven likable outcasts riding around on their bikes and facing their fears together... Less successful are the sections that trot out Pennywise. The more we see of him, the less scary he becomes.

You won’t float off the film’s intended horror high, but the characters will endear you enough to show up for the promised second chapter.

In spite of its flaws, this new It does capture the spirit of the book, and especially its metaphor for coming together as a group to combat evil.

Childhood: courtesy of Mr. King. Filtered through the pedestrian sensibilities of director Andy Muschietti, who seemingly never met a horror-movie cliché he couldn’t incorporate into his adaptation of King’s thousand-page-plus mega-opus.

Incredible film. Bill Skarsgård is incredible as pennywise and the story is great. It does take a different route than the novel but is much better than the 1990's miniseries. Not the scariest though, but it is still one of the best.

Bill Skarsgård delivers a twisted-funny performance as Pennywise. Some scenes are unsettling and build suspense but aside from the clown room & Beverly taken scenes, this film could of been scarier. Funny lines were delivered on queue as well.

The American legend of the bad clown declined in the 80s. It's Stranger Things and more gore, casually we find incest.

One of the most overrated movies I've ever seen, as critic and audience ratings can attest to. The film isn't scary. It's too reliant on jumpscares, booming soundtracks and 'less is more' to even bother trying. Emotional moments felt lifeless and unnatural, comedic moments were forced and unnecessary, pointless scenes slowed the movie down and one scene in particular was incompetent. The reliance on CGI, executing a villain poorly and wasting screentime for important characters was another problem. I'd go into detail, but I'd just be nitpicking and I don't want that. This film is ultimately a disappointment with little to no redeeming qualities. I don't understand what makes this film so 'impressive' when films with similar 'positives' (like Halloween 2018 or Child's Play 2019) get shot down and critiqued.
