The Codex Steering Committee is composed of a lead designer, an engineering manager, and a principal engineer with a constant degree of commitment dedicated to stewarding Codex, the Wikimedia design system. The committee reviews design system priorities and coordinate design and engineering resourcing. The Codex Steering Committee was formed as a successor to the Design System Team.

Current initiatives
editCodex initiatives are generally set by the Codex Steering Committee. The priorities may shift as things change within the Foundation.
The "Resource" column in the table below assigns an initiative to one of the following groups:
- Codex engineering or design - the principal engineer or lead designer on the Codex Steering Committee
- [Team] engineering or design - the WMF team determined to work on the initiative
- Volunteer engineering or design - any WMF or volunteer developer or designer who is willing to work on the initiative
