    F96-CE is a good start. Depends of what you need on a daily user base. If there isn't something you'd need and it's not included there will prolly be a .pet to fill that gap.

    @PuppyHome :-

    Nnghh.... Don't think so. Ya gotta remember, our young friend here is stuck on a 32-bit only Pentium M. Only SSE2s, and then there's the issue of if it's a 'Dothan' or 'Banias' core. Both support PAE, but Intel built 'Banias' without the ability to report that fact to the system.....which CAN make booting interesting!

    From experience with P4s myself, I honestly think the best he'll get running on there will be something along the lines of 32-bit Xenialpup 7.5. It's 9 years old, but I run this myself.....it was always my favourite 32-bitzer, and is still capable of running modern, up-to-date browsers. The current, glibc-tweaked SSE-only 32-bit New Moon 'portable' is a perfectly capable browser for most stuff.

    (32-bit Bionicpup 8.0 would be better, of course, but I really think the Pentium M will struggle with that one. One of our members runs this on a P4, but it's a later one, with SSE3s, hyper-threading and 64-bit capable...)

    Oops........didn't get the 32-Bit part. My bad. :oops: @MikeWalsh it was Bionic Pup 32-Bit when I fell in love with Puppy. It was a time in my life when I just came out of being homeless off and on (2011) and all I had was an old and beaten IBM ThinkPad T-40 that wouldn't even run XP anymore. When I got into the homeless center for the last time (got back on my feet right then) I searched for an OS to run my laptop in order to stay in contact with family.
    Ran into puppy and my IBM sprang back to live. Been with Linux in general from that point on, never looked back.
    Only now in the beginning of 2025 I run Pups only as a daily driver. EasyOS is my all time favorite. F96 on my workstation (Lenovo ThinkCentre).
    Happy Birthday Mike ... hope it is a great day for you. Wiz.

    Happy Birthday bro!
    Dear Mike, I have been using Puppy. I tried to edit a document created in Open Office, using Puppy, and I had to store my changes several times, and Puppy created 3 documents where there was one. Very quirky. I am kind of turned off about Puppy's word processor system. I am wondering whether I should move on to another Linux version. What do you think? JC
