Safety Shouldn’t Be Optional in Public Transit! Uber is pushing a misleading narrative about the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) proposed clarification on the taxicab exception. Let's set the record straight: This rule does NOT eliminate service, it simply ensures all contracted transportation providers meet the same drug and alcohol testing requirements that have been in place for decades. Taxi and professional mobility providers have long delivered these services safely and reliably well before Uber entered the market. If TNCs can’t meet the same safety standards, why should they get special treatment? Public transit riders, including paratransit users, deserve equal safety protections whether they’re in a bus, taxi, or TNC. Safety should never take a backseat to corporate exemptions. The focus should be on fairness, reliability, and safety. If drug and alcohol testing isn’t important, then why not remove it for all public transit operators? But if it is essential for safety then why should any provider get a pass? Have your say! Submit a public comment before February 13, 2025, through the FTAs portal. https://lnkd.in/gqbCs_cZ Your voice matters. Let's ensure public transit remains safe and fair for all.
