💰 CircuitHub raises $28m to scale automated PCB factories 🏭 It's claimed the funding will accelerate the expansion of CircuitHub’s automated factories across Europe and the US, grow its engineering team and extend the platform into full-service electronics manufacturing. 🗣️ “Today, hardware companies face a tough choice: either spin up their own vertically integrated manufacturing from scratch, or rely on a legacy Western supply chain that's been decaying for years," said founder and CEO Andrew Seddon. “CircuitHub is the alternative: providing remote access to a cutting-edge factory through your browser or your AI agent." #theengineer #automation #PCBs #manufacturing #electronics Full story below 👇 https://lnkd.in/ek_3Babh

🏗️ The government has set revised costs and timelines for High Speed Two #HS2 alongside measures intended to reduce delivery complexity and construction expenditure. 🚄 Transport secretary Heidi Alexander said the government would reset the programme following years of delays, cost escalation and criticism over project management. 💷 The revised estimate places the cost of HS2 between £87.7bn and £102.7bn, with two thirds of the increase due to works being missed from the scope of the original project plan, underestimation by previous governments, inefficient delivery, and inflation. 📢 Late great engineers: Barnes Wallis - the man behind the myth 💣 Best known for the #bouncingbomb that breached the Ruhr dams in 1943, #BarnesWallis was a seven-decade career engineer whose greatest work was largely overlooked in his lifetime. 💡 As N.W. Boorer, a colleague who worked under Wallis said in a memorial lecture to the Royal Aeronautical Society following his death: “It is not possible to give proper justice to the work of a man who devoted something like 70 years to engineering design.” Full story below 👇 https://lnkd.in/eeYQJwcP #lategreatengineers #barneswallis #r100 #bouncingbomb image credit: Alamy

⚡ Electrical and chemical engineers at Newcastle University have developed a #reversibleglue that could change how electronic waste is recycled. 💡 Like solder, the electrically conductive glue it can join electronic components but can be washed off with acetone and an alkaline solution, thereby allowing components to be separated for reuse or recycling. "There is now increasing recognition that water-based formulations can support more sustainable electronics, and this work demonstrates how they can deliver both performance and reversibility,” said co-author of a paper on the breakthrough Ama Asiedu-Asante, PhD Full Story here 👇 https://lnkd.in/e5ExFABK
