I’m thrilled to share an exciting new partnership between Baseball Reference and the Salón de la Fama del Béisbol Latino (Latin Baseball Hall of Fame). Founded in 2010, the Latin Baseball Hall of Fame recognizes Latin American legends who have excelled both in the major leagues and beyond. While they honor world-class stars like Roberto Clemente, Pedro Martínez, and Martín Dihigo, they have also paid special attention to honoring the accomplishments of Latin stars outside of the major leagues. Giants of the Latin game like Héctor Espino (Mexico), Tetelo Vargas (Dominican Republic), Ramón Bragaña (Cuba), Perucho Cepeda (Puerto Rico), José “Carrao” Bracho (Venezuela), and Patricio Scantlebury (Panama) are all honored by the institution. At the heart of this partnership is Baseball Reference’s role as the Official Statistical Provider of the Latin Baseball Hall of Fame. In this role, I will be building and maintaining official statistical reports to support the election committee. Additionally, it is an absolute honor to join the committee myself as a voting member of the Hall’s International Circle of Baseball Writers. This partnership, of course, is right in the wheelhouse of my ongoing research on the history and inductees of Halls of Fame across Latin America. It is a unique thrill to now be involved in the election process for one of these institutions. I’m excited to share more about the partnership as it develops.
