ℹ The consultation bears fruit: Skyguide expects fewer redundancies following consultation process The many contributions received from employees and social partners helped shape the final restructuring measures and are expected to reduce the number of redundancies to around half of the originally projected maximum of 220. While the planned workforce reduction and efficiency measures remain necessary to ensure Skyguide's long-term sustainability, a significant proportion of the reduction is expected to be managed through socially responsible measures such as early retirement schemes. A fair social plan will also be put in place to support affected employees. At the same time, Skyguide's Board of Directors has approved the company's future strategic direction, with a focus on its core mission as Switzerland's air navigation service provider. Throughout this transformation, one principle remains unchanged: safety is and will remain Skyguide's highest priority. Read the full media release: https://lnkd.in/d9XZBAJk

ℹ Skyguide concludes the consultation process Skyguide has concluded the 30-day consultation process as part of its efficiency programme. During this period, employees, unions, and employee representatives actively contributed a wide range of proposals to help mitigate the consequences of the announced mass layoff. These submissions reflect strong engagement and a shared commitment to the company’s future. Skyguide is now reviewing these contributions and assessing mitigation measures such as early retirement, natural attrition and voluntary reductions in working hours. The goal remains to minimise the impact on employees as much as possible and to ensure Skyguide’s long-term viability. While these measures are important, structural transformation remains necessary. Simplifying processes, clarifying responsibilities, and deploying resources strategically are key to ensuring that Skyguide can continue to fulfil its mandate effectively. Safety remains our top priority. Skyguide continues to provide safe, orderly, and efficient air navigation services without compromise throughout this period of change. How is air traffic managed during an event like the G7? From restricted airspace to cross-border coordination, the challenge lies in balancing two priorities: supporting the specific requirements of the summit while maintaining the safe and efficient flow of civil air traffic. Behind the scenes, months of preparation and coordination are required to ensure that everything works as expected. A dedicated cross-functional Task Force brings together experts from across the organisation to coordinate preparations, monitor developments and ensure that no critical detail is overlooked. While much of this work remains invisible, it is essential to ensuring that air traffic continues to operate safely, securely and efficiently throughout the event.

Thunderstorms and air traffic ⚡✈️ Thunderstorms like the ones today affect air traffic far more than many people might initially assume. They reduce available airspace, require increased separation between aircraft and lead to constant adjustments in traffic flows. Pilots and air traffic controllers must adapt in real time, coordinating closely to ensure safe operations at all times. Whether storms are directly above an airport or not, their impact can be felt across the entire system.

In recent days, safety, AI and recruitment have been widely discussed following the announcement of our consultation process. At Skyguide, ensuring safe, efficient and reliable operations remains at the core of our mandate at all times. As a critical infrastructure, we do not compromise on safety – and functions essential to fulfilling our mandate are not affected. Recruitment continues where critical roles are needed to ensure operational continuity and maintain essential capabilities. At the same time, potential adjustments are being assessed in other parts of the organisation as part of the consultation process, with the objective of preserving key skills and essential capabilities. Artificial intelligence is not the reason for the consultation process. The measures under assessment reflect structural and financial challenges and are aimed at ensuring Skyguide’s long-term stability. Swipe through the visuals to explore the facts behind some of the myths we have seen in recent days.
