Can recreational fishing and marine conservation always go hand in hand? 📖 𝑆𝑢𝑠𝑡𝑎𝑖𝑛𝑎𝑏𝑖𝑙𝑖𝑡𝑦 𝑜𝑟 𝑓𝑢𝑛? In this study, Hasan Cerim examined recreational angling in the Akyaka Marine Protected Area in Gökova Bay, Türkiye. The study found that many of the fish caught by recreational anglers had not yet reached maturity, highlighting how even recreational activities can affect conservation efforts in protected marine environments. It's an interesting perspective on the challenges of balancing public access to nature with long-term environmental protection. If you find this topic interesting, we'd love to hear your thoughts. Did you know that identifying places with geotourism potential isn't based solely on expert opinion? 📖 𝑈𝑛𝑙𝑜𝑐𝑘𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝐺𝑒𝑜𝑡𝑜𝑢𝑟𝑖𝑠𝑚 𝑃𝑜𝑡𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑖𝑎𝑙: 𝐼𝑛𝑡𝑒𝑔𝑟𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑆𝑜𝑐𝑖𝑎𝑙 𝑃𝑒𝑟𝑐𝑒𝑝𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛𝑠 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝐸𝑥𝑝𝑒𝑟𝑡 𝐴𝑠𝑠𝑒𝑠𝑠𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑠 𝑖𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑊𝑜𝑙𝑖𝑛 𝑀𝑢𝑛𝑖𝑐𝑖𝑝𝑎𝑙𝑖𝑡𝑦 (𝑆𝑜𝑢𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟𝑛 𝐵𝑎𝑙𝑡𝑖𝑐 𝐶𝑜𝑎𝑠𝑡, 𝑃𝑜𝑙𝑎𝑛𝑑) https://lnkd.in/g2_jK_hg Published in 𝑄𝑢𝑎𝑒𝑠𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛𝑒𝑠 𝐺𝑒𝑜𝑔𝑟𝑎𝑝ℎ𝑖𝑐𝑎𝑒, the study by Dawid Abramowicz and 𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐮𝐬𝐳 𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐭 combines expert assessments with the perspectives of local residents to identify sites with the greatest geotourism potential in the Wolin municipality on Poland's Baltic coast. Their findings suggest that scientific knowledge and local experience can complement one another, helping to identify places worth protecting while supporting more sustainable tourism and regional development. If you're interested in how research helps us better understand the places we visit, this article is well worth exploring. One of the strongest themes in tourism research over the past few years has been sustainability. In fact, a review of highly cited publications found that "sustainable tourism", "tourism" and "COVID-19" were among the most frequently occurring keywords between 2017 and 2022. With that in mind, we're beginning our summer reading series with a closer look at how research on tourism continues to evolve. 📖 𝘚𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘛𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘮: 𝘈 𝘚𝘺𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘤 𝘓𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘙𝘦𝘷𝘪𝘦𝘸 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘉𝘪𝘣𝘭𝘪𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘤 𝘈𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘺𝘴𝘪𝘴 Published in the 𝘌𝘶𝘳𝘰𝘱𝘦𝘢𝘯 𝘑𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘰𝘧 𝘛𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘮, 𝘏𝘰𝘴𝘱𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘙𝘦𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯. https://lnkd.in/d2SU2U6e Isabel Loureiro, Vânia Costa and Alexandra Malheiro examine how research on sustainable tourism has developed over time, highlighting the topics that have received the most attention and how priorities shifted following the pandemic. It's an interesting perspective on how tourism research continues to evolve in response to changing environmental, social, and economic priorities. If this research sparked your curiosity, we'd be interested to hear your thoughts 💬 #ResearchConversations #SustainableTourism #ReferenceGlobalReads
