Congratulations to Technical.ly lead Pittsburgh reporter Alice Crow, along with editor Katie Malone, for joining our friends at Pittsburgh's Public Source, including Halle Stockton and Richard Lord on being honored for "Excellence in Collaboration". That recognition came last night from the 62nd annual Golden Quill Awards from the Western PA Press Club, and is part of a string of honors our newsroom has gotten across markets we serve, often in collaboration with journalism collaboratives and other local newsrooms. Two lessons for me: (1) Our model of bringing subject matter expertise thrives in collaboration with vibrant local news providers. For years, Technical.ly's beat focus on entrepreneurship, workforce change and the local effects of tech was overlooked by other local newsrooms. That's changing when we can partner with impressive teams like PublicSource. Thankfully any sane local news ecosystem now understands we can do great work together. (2) Depth grows. Over 17 years, the quality of news, information and journalism the Technical.ly provides has gotten stronger with each passing year. We are now doing serious work in a half-dozen states with more to come.
