U.S. Embassy visit to Pirelli HQ in Milan, exploring the company’s R&D Centre, advanced technology development and future vision. The U.S. Deputy Chief of Mission in Italy, Marta Costanzo Youth, and Consul General, Douglass Benning, visited Pirelli’s global headquarters in Milan to learn about the company’s innovation pathway and the technologies that are also relevant to the US market. The visit focused on Pirelli’s Global Research & Development Centre, where the company’s digital transformation – from the virtualisation of the development process to numerous AI enhancements – was on full display. Discussions with Executive Vice Chairman Marco Tronchetti Provera also highlighted Pirelli’s innovation-driven vision for the future and how the company is preparing to play a key role in future mobility. Among the technologies showcased: Cyber Tyre, which leverages both hardware and software to enable the tyre to communicate real-time information from the road to the car’s onboard systems, road infrastructure and driver. This commitment to innovation will also be showcased in May through Pirelli’s participation in the 2026 SelectUSA Investment Summit delegation, led by Marta Costanzo Youth.

Since the 1990s, Tiravanija has centered his practice on social engagement, often encouraging visitors to interact with and actively participate in his works. The artist’s works push beyond conventional boundaries, redefining traditional categories and promoting an environment in which involvement and collaboration are integral to the work. The retrospective “The House That Jack Built,” presented at Pirelli HangarBicocca from March 26 to July 26 and curated by Lucia Aspesi and Vicente Todolí, will introduce the public to the artist’s thirty years of research into spatial and architectural practices, showcasing the largest collection of the Tiravanija’s architectural works to date, many of which are inspired by iconic buildings of celebrated architects associated with Modernism, including Sigurd Lewerentz, Le Corbusier, Carlo Scarpa, Rudolf Michael Schindler, Frederick Kiesler, Jean Prouvé, and Philip Johnson.   With these structures, Tiravanija explores themes related to authorship and reinterprets modernist icons by altering their original function through collective activation and placing them in radically different contexts. Like cinematic sequences unfolding throughout the exhibition, the show will present a succession of scenarios in which visitors become protagonists.   Admission to the exhibition is free.
