Important new real-world data published in Annals of Internal Medicine suggests an increased risk of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D) using GLP-1s. A population-based cohort study of nearly 114,000 patients with T2D found that use of GLP-1s, compared with SGLT-2 inhibitors, was associated with a 27% higher relative risk of being diagnosed with GERD and a 55% higher relative risk of GERD-related complications. Phathom supports ongoing scientific research aimed at expanding understanding of acid-related conditions like GERD and advancing #gastroenterology care.
