The August issue of LESS, our (minimal) monthly dispatch on experience design and spatial storytelling, is out now. This month, we’re reflecting on: > Cognitive spaces that dream, remember, learn, and decide > Our studio as a place to challenge the status quo > An architectural artwork where opposites coexist > Design and tech signals that caught our attention this month If you care about how spaces behave, communicate, and connect, this is worth a read. What if buildings could dream? Our Founding Partner, Erik Karasyk, explores how AI and experience design are bringing that future closer. At HUSH, we’re designing spaces that not only inspire people but learn from them too. Read more: https://lnkd.in/gj_G6bkT
I’m excited as I’ve begun to see buildings infused with AI as “dream machines” capable of sensing themselves by-day and realizing new insights by-night. For nearly two decades, HUSH has been interpreting data and creating expressive spaces, connecting people to buildings they inhabit. Our latest work is pushing this further with the goal of two-way conversations, where buildings can inspire and also become inspired by their inhabitants, connecting on deeper emotional and cultural levels.

I was standing in the middle of Times Square the other day, observing the unfortunate confluence of architecture and digital dystopia. I had an epiphany: this is what happens when buildings learn to talk, but never learn when to listen to their audiences. Digital media has woven itself into the architecture of our cities, with little to no benefit for the people that live, work and play there. How do we arrest our fall? What might the future look like if we circumvent the business models at play and focus on the net value to the actual humans on the ground? Here’s my take... From my years of experience as a producer, I’ve seen digital products designed and deployed with constant testing, iteration, and feedback. I've often asked myself… why don’t we do the same in the built environment? In our latest work, we took a “test and learn” approach to spatial design by building, measuring, adapting. The result? Smarter spend, stronger outcomes, and a more data-driven path forward. I wrote my thoughts on how this digital mindset is reshaping our approach at HUSH. Check it out and let me know what you think! #ExperienceDesign #DesignThinking #Innovation

Welcome to HUSH, Sarah Crooks! Our new Director of Growth shares insights from her first few weeks with us, during which she interviewed our team to discover what's currently driving innovation within experience design.
My first month at HUSH has been off to a flying start! I’ve been in full-on professional osmosis mode. I've learned so much, I figure it would be a shame to keep it all to myself. So, this piece is part reflection, part strategy, and all admiration for the minds I now get to work with. Would love to hear what resonates. 👇

What happens when we design not just for productivity, but for people? At the intersection of empathy and innovation, a feminine design perspective is reshaping how we think about space, work, and community. Explore the insights from our un-Conference with HUSH here: https://lnkd.in/eF-HvM6R Huge shoutout to our HUSH partners Kristen DiCamillo and Athena Diaconis for collaborating with us! #WomenInInnovation #HumanCenteredDesign #InclusiveInnovation
