🎉 What a day for national parks and park connections! We joined public officials, agency leaders, and community members to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Presidio Parkway recently—a landmark infrastructure project that led to to the Presidio Tunnel Tops and transformed these national parks forever. We were honored to receive a $20,000 grant from Golden Link Concessionaire, LLC to support Parks Conservancy youth programs. This gift continues a meaningful partnership dedicated to connecting young people with the beauty and history of the national parks at the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. From the inspiring remarks by Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi to the presence of local leaders like State Senator Scott Wiener and San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie 丹尼爾·羅偉 alongside families enjoying the parks, the event showcased what’s possible when public, private, and community partners come together. The first two weekends of our “Follow the Tam Van!” program have been a total success for sparking curiosity and connection! Our staff had amazing conversations with 560+ park visitors so far, diving into what makes a forest healthy. At Muir Woods they highlighted the interconnectedness of the ecosystem through the salmon habitat enhancement project, and at Lake Lagunitas they facilitated conversations about forest thinning and beneficial fire. Thanks to everyone who’s joined us so far! This is why we do this work: to inspire care for the environment through accessible education and to build community in these incredible parklands. 🚲☀️ Community, connection, and accessibility are at the heart of everything we do at the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy.   Last month, our Community & Engagement team was proud to join the first Activation of the Golden Gate Greenway, hosted by our partners at St. Anthony Foundation. Our staff brought out our mobile park pop-up, the Roving Ranger, and created a fun, educational, and inspiring space on the Greenway with partners from Presidio Trust, National Park Service, San Francisco Public Library, Family Nature Club, Bay Area Discovery Museum, and the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition. A youth cohort kicked off the “Read, Bike, Explore” program in partnership with the SF Bike Coalition and learned to ride bicycles.   This monthly activation continues on the last Wednesday through September, culminating in a meaningful moment: every participating child will receive their very own bike to keep.   Programs like these build stronger, healthier communities by connecting people to movement, the outdoors, and to one another.   They are a vital part of our mission to create more inclusive, accessible public spaces for all.
