Fraud investigations get harder when every customer, channel, or transaction is viewed in isolation. In this video, Sift Trust and Safety Architect Maria Benjamin explains why connected fraud tells a much bigger story. Sift’s latest Digital Trust Index found that accounts tied to fraudulent chargebacks show 15.8x more linkages than typical user profiles. Fraudsters often operate through shared patterns, infrastructure, and behavior that only become clear when teams look across the broader network. Trust takes time to build. Fraud can damage it fast. Fraud teams know the weirdest patterns are often worth a second look. Sift Trust and Safety Architect Jeremy Cannon breaks down a real case involving unusually large orders of energy drinks. Fraud is often associated with electronics, apparel, or other obvious resale categories, but energy drinks can carry meaningful resale value too. In this case, fraudsters were buying large quantities from bodegas across New York and reselling them through black market channels. One large order might look like a lucky sale. Aggregated across multiple stores, the pattern became much easier to see. We couldn't help ourselves.  🏙️ Two climbers scaled the Empire State Building this week and unfurled a banner with the quote: "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world knows peace." We made one small edit. Because at Sift, we believe that when the power of trust beats the love of fraud, the internet will know peace, too. It's a bold claim to plant 1,454 feet in the air. But it's also exactly why we show up every day: to make sure the people building, buying, and transacting online can do it without fear. #DigitalTrust #FraudPrevention #FearlessGrowth #GetSift

Fraud rates improved on paper last quarter. But global averages only tell part of the story. Risk is concentrating across specific industries, payment methods, account types, and connected fraud rings that spread activity across multiple businesses. Join Sift experts Brent Sleeper and Jeremy Cannon for The Connected Threat: Fraud Rings, ATO Patterns, and Payment Fraud Benchmarks, a 30-minute webinar on what the latest fraud data means for fraud teams right now. They’ll cover: • Why global benchmarks can mask concentrated risk • How fraud rings exploit partial visibility across merchants • Where ATO risk is still growing • Why authentication alone isn’t enough • How false-positive costs vary by industry • What consumers expect after a fraud incident 📅 July 7 & July 16, 2026 ⏰ 9–9:30 a.m. PT | 3–3:30 p.m. GMT Register now: https://lnkd.in/gPRe97V2 #FraudPrevention #AccountTakeover #PaymentFraud #DigitalTrust

iGB Events brought iGaming leaders to London for a packed week of meetings, sessions, and conversations. To close out the day, Sift and DevCode Identity hosted an intimate dinner in the heart of Carnaby, bringing together a curated group of leaders for the conversations that often matter most: candid, peer-to-peer, and off the conference floor. Great food, an iconic venue, and the chance to compare notes with people tackling the same fraud, risk, and growth challenges across iGaming. Thank you to everyone who joined us. We’re grateful for the conversations, connections, and time together in London. #iGaming #FraudPrevention #RiskManagement #DigitalTrust #Sift

Fifteen years ago, Sift started with five ideas, a belief in machine learning, and no background in fraud. Since then, fraud prevention has changed dramatically, but one thing has stayed constant: trust is built through better decisions, stronger partnerships, and the ability to adapt. To mark Sift’s 15th anniversary, co-founder Jason Tan and CEO Marc Friend reflect on the moments that shaped Sift, the customers who expanded the vision, and what comes next for fraud, trust, and AI. Career paths in fraud and trust & safety rarely look the way you expect. Maria Benjamin started in customer support at the Merchandise Mart in Chicago. Today, she's a Trust & Safety Architect at Sift. The journey between those two points wasn't linear, but every step built toward where she is now. If you're early in your fraud prevention career, or trying to break in, the path forward exists. It just might not be the one you originally mapped out. What a day at Oracle Park! Thank you to everyone who joined Sift for an afternoon of Bay Area baseball, good food, and even better conversation. It was great to spend time with local fraud and payments leaders outside the usual meeting room and connect over the challenges, ideas, and opportunities shaping the industry. Already looking forward to the next one! ⚾

Fraud doesn’t work alone. And the data shows it. The Q2 2026 Sift Digital Trust Index drops June 30, with new analysis on the infrastructure behind coordinated fraud at scale. Users tied to fraudulent chargebacks show network connectivity 15.8x higher than users without chargebacks. That kind of linkage points to shared infrastructure, coordinated behavior, and fraud rings operating across merchants and industries simultaneously. Inside the report, we’ll cover fraud ring anatomy, ATO patterns, payment fraud benchmarks by industry, and what consumers do after a fraud incident. Until then, explore previous Digital Trust Index reports here: https://lnkd.in/gsHx9z4d #DigitalTrustIndex #FraudPrevention #FraudIntelligence
