About us
Florence Crittenton Services pioneered a nationally recognized trauma-responsive two-generation program model that helps teen families break the cycle of poverty through education, health and wellness, and economic and social asset building. Our campus is a full-service family resource center that includes an Early Childhood Education (ECE) Center, the Alethia E. Morgan, MD Health Center, and, through our 36-year partnership with Denver Public Schools, the on-site Florence Crittenton High School. On our new campus, we have extended our programming to offer services for teen families year round. We are part of the Ascend Network, a prestigious group of two-generation approach leaders and organizations working to influence practice and policy change, and we were instrumental in establishing the Colorado Teen Parent Collaborative, a statewide group of organizations which raises public awareness, shares resources, and advocates for public policy to benefit teen parents and their children. Our mission is to educate, prepare, and empower teen mothers and their children. We break the cycle of poverty for two generations–teen mother and child–through education, health and wellness, and economic and social asset building. Our trauma-informed, two-generation service model more than doubles the national high school graduation rate of teen mothers and ensures that their children are kindergarten-ready.

This week, 38 Coan, Payton & Payne, LLC volunteers arrived on campus to help us tackle some big projects. They spent the afternoon restaining wood benches, organizing donations in our basic needs store Baby Bucks, and cleaning up various spots around campus. We are able to provide resources and space for teen mothers and their children to succeed thanks in part to volunteers who give their time to Florence Crittenton Services. Thanks, Coan, Payton and Payne! Would you or your company like to volunteer with us? Reach out to Michelle Baldwin at mbaldwin@flocritco.org to get started.

It takes a lot to keep the comprehensive FloCrit campus running, from paying the electric bills to making sure our playgrounds stay safe and clean. Thank you to El Pomar Foundation for their general operating support! Because of support like theirs, teen moms and their children have a safe place to learn, play, and build the futures they deserve 💜

"(The Denver Connector) allows me to get everywhere. It allowed me to graduate. Transportation is a big deal." -Alyssa, FloCrit Class of 2025 Alyssa lives just 10 minutes from FloCrit’s campus, but without a car, her daily commute took 45 minutes by bus with her baby, Jeremiah, in tow. Navigating uneven sidewalks and train tracks made using a stroller impossible. “I had to strap him against me,” she says. Missing the bus meant waiting another 30 minutes. “And you have a baby, so it’s not like you can hop on a Lime Scooter.” Now, thanks to the Denver Connector, Alyssa has reliable transportation to school, job interviews, and the grocery store. The Connector stops at FloCrit almost daily, helping teen families get where they need to go. Thank you to the Denver Connector and its amazing drivers for supporting teen parents like Alyssa! #DenverConnector #MicroConnector #Transportation #Denver

Diapers and wipes are essential yet costly items for any parent. For the teen moms at Florence Crittenton Services, these daily necessities can be a major financial burden. That’s why we created Baby Bucks, our free on-campus basic needs store where teen moms can access diapers, wipes, formula, and more. Today launches our 2025 Diapers & Wipes Drive! We're inviting individuals, workplaces, and community groups to host a drive and help keep Baby Bucks fully stocked. Every #donation helps reduce stress for a teen mom and ensures her baby has what they need to thrive. “I think FloCrit doesn’t really judge you about what your life is. They actually help you try and figure out whatever you want to be in the future, and try to push you on in that path.” -Yenni, FloCrit Class of 2025 Yenni always dreamed of becoming a lawyer, even when others told her she couldn’t as a teen mom. She made it her mission to prove them wrong, and will be starting classes at the Community College of Denver this fall. Last week, FloCrit graduates met with U.S. Bank representatives to learn the basics of personal banking and set up their own checking and savings accounts with $185 in each to get them started. Among those reps was Gina, a FloCrit alumna who now manages a U.S. Bank branch in Denver. Graduates also received brand-new laptops from the FloCrit Junior Board to support their next steps after high school. Thank you to the U.S. Bank Foundation for supporting FloCrit's Post-Secondary and Career Readiness Program for teen moms! Their support will help young mothers graduate career-ready, explore different career pathways and develop post-secondary education and career plans.

Babies smell great, sleep through the night, and never cry… right? May is #MaternalMentalHealthMonth—a time to recognize that parenthood, while beautiful, is also unpredictable and emotionally complex. In fact, 1 in 5 birth givers experience perinatal mental health disorders. And social media's “bounce back” culture isn’t exactly helping. For teen moms, the risk is even greater, especially without consistent support or resources. Laura Rivera, FloCrit's Bilingual Clinical Mental Health Manager, and Brooke Kimball, FloCrit's Parent Educator, weigh in on the realities of perinatal mental health and will share their insights at this year’s Postpartum Support International Conference.
