Responsible sourcing, food safety and environmental programmes still tend to run in separate silos. But the same suppliers keep showing up across all three, and running them as separate programmes is becoming harder to justify. In our latest podcast, EiQ CEO Kevin Franklin sits down with Kimberly Carey Coffin (LRQA) and Liam Salter (RESET Carbon) to talk through what connected risk management actually looks like in practice. Also in this edition: the latest on forced labour regulation from the EU and India, heat exposure as a supply chain risk, and an upcoming webinar on what regulators now expect from supplier training programmes.

Sainsbury's has named EiQ by LRQA as part of its supply chain due diligence toolkit in its 2025/26 Modern Slavery Statement, covering supplier, country and product risk assessments and AI-driven adverse media screening. As human rights due diligence requirements grow, major retailers are moving beyond traditional audits to build more layered approaches to risk assessment. Coffee or tea. Iron or steel. Bananas or mangoes. Which one carries the higher supply chain risk? If you work in responsible sourcing, you may be confident you know the answer. Our game, Risky Business, is your chance to prove it. You'll see two commodities per round. Pick the one you think is riskier. The answer might surprise you. What does credible due diligence actually look like now that the regulatory bar has moved? That was the question running through the EiQ Global Summit in London on 24 June. Despite the heatwave, the room was full, and the discussions across the day were some of the most productive we've had. In this edition: a roundup of the day, three new US enforcement moves on forced labour, a tariffs podcast worth revisiting, and a new ROI calculator.

Shaping the Next Generation of Responsible Sourcing in a Real-Time, Resilient World @ Global Summit 2026 | London Climate Week,EIQ LRQA,  the key takeaways while presenting in the panel with Pepsi, Pilgrim's Europe include:: ·      We have a data problem, not a visibility problem: Trusted, decision-grade data remains limited—impact is constrained by data quality, not lack of tools. ·      Risk management must move to real-time: Static, point-in-time assessments are no longer sufficient in a fast-changing global environment. ·      Audit needs to evolve :Shift from periodic audits to continuous, intelligence-led credible assurance models. ·      Scale is now the real challenge: We must move beyond pilots to solutions that deliver consistent value across the full supply base. ·      Pre-audit intelligence is a strategic advantage: Integrating geopolitical signals, worker voice, and real-time feedback improves targeting and outcomes. ·      Governance is critical to unlocking value: Without strong governance, data fragmentation and duplication will continue to limit impact. ·      Fragmentation is reducing effectiveness: Overlapping sustainability and human rights programmes create inefficiencies and dilute focus on real outcomes. ·      Technology enables, but does not replace judgement: AI can enhance insight, but human rights expertise and ethical decision-making remain essential. ·      We must act earlier on risk signals: The future of responsible sourcing is preventative intervening before issues escalate into incidents. #LCAW EiQ by LRQA

If ever a photo captured 'Networking Josh' operating at 110%, this might be it... Big shout out to EiQ by LRQA for an excellent conference on Wednesday, discussing all things supply chain sustainability - a critical topic of growing importance and complexity. It was great to have the chance to spend a full day in this space to really get into the detail, and cool to see some of the products that the team are developing. Having spent more than my fair share of time onboarding suppliers, managing due diligence processes and reviewing concerns about supply chain risk (particularly focused on human rights and modern slavery), I have no doubt that AI enabled technology must be a key part of the tool kit going forward to streamline and better manage these processes. Thank you to everyone who organised and spoke at this excellent event! #supplychainrisk #humanrights

This week during London Climate Action Week, LRQA leaders took part in discussions across the #sustainability community, with our CEO Ian Spaulding joining panels at Newsweek's Field to Future Summit alongside engagements with CDP, WBCSD – World Business Council for Sustainable Development and our own EiQ by LRQA team. A consistent theme across the week was execution. Discussions centred on the commercial realities of climate - building more resilient supply chains, strengthening responsible sourcing, navigating #climate risk and improving climate performance in ways that create lasting business value. Drawing on our #data and insights from our work with clients around the world, we were pleased to contribute to these conversations. Against the backdrop of record summer temperatures across much of Europe, the conversations felt particularly timely. Thank you to everyone who shared perspectives, challenged thinking and reinforced the value of collaboration in driving meaningful progress. 📸 Photo credits: LRQA, EiQ, CDP and WBCSD.
