  • Recently, AWG Cares provided a grant award in the amount of $3,000 to Least of These in Springfield, MO. The grant request was submitted by Landon Godley, AWG Springfield Division Support Center employee. Least of These is a full-service food pantry serving Christian County, Missouri. Their story is inspiring, beginning in 1998 as a small outreach program from a Nixa church serving just seven families, and growing into a vital resource that now supports more than 10,000 families living below the poverty line in Christian County. Least of These truly represents the spirit of community, and it is a pleasure to continue supporting their mission. Thank you, Landon, for donating to AWG Cares and submitting this grant request! • September is Food Safety Education Month and we're proud to use this opportunity to spotlight AWG member Balls Foods for their outstanding commitment to food safety. From onboarding to ongoing reinforcement training, Balls Foods ensures food safety is always top of mind. Their partnership with AWG’s Learning & Development team—especially expert-led certification classes—empowers managers with the tools and confidence to lead safe, successful teams. According to Bob Scott, Balls Foods Training Director, "At Balls Foods we share a firm commitment to food safety within our organization. We understand the responsibility we are entrusted with in delivering safe, fresh, and delicious food for our guests." In a grocery store, five common risk factors can lead to foodborne illness and putting prevention measures, such as training, in place is crucial. 🧼Employee Hygiene: Washing hands frequently, avoiding bare hand contact and excluding sick employees are crucial in preventing the spread of illness and foodborne illness. 🥩Preventing Cross-Contamination and Cross-Contact: Keep raw foods separated from cooked foods and ensure allergens are not transferred. 🌡️Proper Temperatures: Hold, store and cook food to proper temperatures. 🐜Pest Control: Pests can carry and spread diseases. 🧑🌾Vendors: Purchase food from approved, reputable suppliers. This ensures the food you receive is safe from the start. Thank you, Balls Foods, for setting a high standard in food safety excellence! #FoodSafetyEducationMonth #AWGLearning #BallsFoods #AWGINC
