

The Sand and the Bow: Music, Chaos and the Initiated Soul
There’s an experiment first performed in the eighteenth century by the physicist Ernst Chladni that reveals something about the nature of transformation that no amount of psychological attribution or theological conjecture quite manages. Chladni would scatter fine sand across a circular, flat, metal plate then draw a violin bow slowly down its edge.
