Diablo 4 Season of Slaughter Release Date and Details
The Season of Slaughter has almost arrived in Diablo 4, bringing with it the ability to transform into The Butcher, alongside new uniques, a new Killstreak system, a DOOM collab, and much more!
This page acts as a comprehensive breakdown of the Season of Slaughter within Diablo IV, including its release date.
Season of Slaughter Release Date
The Season of Slaughter is set to launch on March 11, 2026, with early download of Patch 2.6.0 available on March 9, 2026 at 10:00AM PT.
Become The Butcher
As part of this Season, you'll gain the ability to transform into The Butcher, wielding special devastating powers that can decimate your enemies. As The Butcher, kill enemies to earn Seasonal currency that can be used to purchase special rewards!
There are multiple different ways in which you can become The Butcher, including Meaty Offerings, which are a new consumable item which can be used on Shrines of Slaughter in a new Helltide event. Activating the shrine draws enemies in, allowing you to wipe them out efficiently to reap the rewards.
In Fields of Hatred, a Ceremony of Slaughter completely replaces typical PvP combat in this zone. With each kill, you'll gain Savagery - a kill-based progression system that continues to build your power. As the Ceremony concludes, you'll retrieve The Butcher's Idol, transforming you in the process.
Slaughterhouses are an additional way to become The Butcher, and in this activity you'll be The Butcher for the entire run! By killing enemies as The Butcher, you'll receive Fresh Meat, which is a new resource that you can use to earn Bloodied Items.
Killstreak System
If you maintain a fast flow of kills, you'll increase your power and earn rewards. This new system changes how you play in every single activity in the game, so keep an eye on the pop-up as you go on your rampage. It will begin to decay after a short period, so keep refreshing it with additional kills, direct damage, or initial damage-over-time application.
There are 5 tiers to a Killstreak, which are as follows:
- Killstreak
- Carnage
- Devastation
- Bloodbath
- Massacre
When the timer depletes, the Killstreak ends, and you'll receive Experience and Seasonal Reputation based on the strength of your Killstreak.
Bloodied Items
Bloodied Items are a new Item Quality that you can wield in addition to your Killstreaks to enhance the level of destruction you reap on enemies. These items have affixes which scale in power based off your current Killstreak Tier, and any item that can drop has the chance to appear Bloodied. This Item Quality tag is non-exclusive, and an item can be both Ancestral and Bloodied.
Bloodied Affixes have 3 categories:
- Rampage:
- Increase in power based off current Killstreak Tier
- Applies to Armor
- Ex: Killstreak: 7%[+] Move Speed per Killstreak Tier in your Killstreak
- Feast:
- Apply Combat bonuses based off total kills in your current Killstreak
- Applies to Weapons
- Ex: Every 40 Kills in your Killstreak, reset 1 random Cooldown
- These bonuses are constant and are not tied to Killstreak Tier
- Hunger:
- Customizes reward offerings, which scale with Killstreak Tiers
- Ex: Elite kills will drop Runes more frequently
- Applies to Jewelry
Bloodied Sigils
Bloodied Sigils unlock your ability to additionally increase the intensity and aggression of your gameplay, with enhanced rewards to boot. Nightmare Dungeons, Infernal Hordes, and Lair Bosses each have Bloodied Sigils. These potent Sigils only become available once you reach Torment I.
Each Bloodied Sigil carries the Relentless Butcher Bloodied Affix. This makes it so that The Butcher will endlessly hunt you, and if you manage to defeat the Butcher, he'll immediately respawn. This does not replace the existing chance for Butcher spawns.
Bloodsoaked Sigils
Bloodsoaked Sigils provide the ultimate challenge; scaled to be roughly close in difficulty to Pit Tier 100, but bring great rewards as they have guaranteed drops of multiple Bloodied Items.
