The Eternal Mark:
The power within. The essence and nectar of life. Our salvation towards all and everything.
The Eternal Mark is what we call the essence our Gods bestowed upon us and the pledge and merging of our people to them. From the day our father walked in the skin of Dernack and all to this day we have flourished thanks to it. From the vestige of our belief and our creed. It’s through this we fight and it’s through this we prevail. Believer or not. We all agree on one thing. With the Eternal Mark we are ALL ONE.
After the Blessed Father he let all of us choose our patron and all those that didn’t choose a specific one. Just accepted the Mark of our new savior himself. Some took the path of justice and some that of the warrior. Some.. to the more darker of affairs.. But also some to uphold the order of love. All who accepted a patron became.. What we now call “Blessed”. Within these choices however our father tasked us to create three centerpieces of our civilization. One who caters to the spiritual needs of all Dernackians and one who is tasked to propel all our material things and one who oversees the balance and eternal expansion of our prosperous reign. It is said that all these three create the epicenter of our rule. For there could not be ONE ruler. Since our true and only rule comes to be laid upon our gods. Instead we had three bodies who ensured stability for all. Just so corruption could not end our reign short.
And these three was delegated and named as such:
The Church of Dernack: Our religious core
The Eternal Charge: Our Military core
The Dernackian Court of Marked Eternalis: Our Political core and court of LAW
Once we finally accepted the Mark it spread throughout our blood.. And changed us from within. Where we once felt the weakness of the Taint of Azelion in our old bodies. They say they felt invigorated. Filled with new life. It was the most intoxicating feeling in history. For many it was overwhelming for the few moments they felt it. But with time we came to get used to our gift. It cured the Stillborn curse and cured the decay of our people. It gave us new hope. As this power infused with our very being and time went on we learned of what this also meant later on. It.. didn’t only cure us of any ailments. It slowed down our aging. As a species of magical sensitivity we already had ways to prolong our lives through magical nourishment.. But this source? It.. it is endless. Because of our nature this meant we were practically IMMORTAL! It even strengthened our magical capabilities. All we could do before.. We could do substantially better. Though still very capable of death.. Yet death to us from this moment forward meant something different. “Are you to fall you are to be reformed and reborn by your patron” That was yet another gift bestowed upon us from the Mark. Once a weak and peaceful magical dependent people. We now were living in abundance.
Not long after we were finding the glimmer of hope once more filled our spirits as we saw our firstborns of this new age take their first breath in that same cycle of light. Many families find joy and happiness previously having thought never to come again.
Yet.. where there is a gift as great as this. There of course had to have its piece of sacrifice. Just like our founder sacrificed himself for our future. We too were now seeking to ensure that sacrifice was NEVER in vain. Our powers came at the cost that we would have to endure so much more suffering.. To become so much more. Because these powers were not natural to our bodies. It was both a gift but also unbearable pain. Some weaker than others were slowly disintegrating from the inside. At the beginning we suffered quite a bit and those that didn’t die outright found themselves having difficulties with their powers as they fed upon this new magical source. Becoming dependent on it because of the Taint. We were both grateful and pained as we needed to still suffer in another way. But better a future than no future at all. BUT there existed another way. Our gods told of ways to ensure we could both survive and live with our powers and even prosper and flourish. Through dedicated service to them and practice of our new powers.. And that of.. Willing sacrifice. Through sacrifice we could pain the few for the betterment of the many. Although not needed we found that to endure some sacrifices were worth the pain of endurance. Through sacrifice to our gods.. They also bestowed upon us more gifts.With sacrifice you could also collect souls dedicated to your name like a currency you could use at the start or later. Depending on the patron they could gain quite the spoils. From wealth, to power and to love and more.
And so slowly as our society developed. We were hesitant at first of our powers and of the act of sacrifice. Until we started to flourish and expand our borders. From one world to another. After years of service we even got people who dedicated their entire life readying themselves to be a worthy sacrifice for their families.. And stockpiling a soul economy. They also had people dedicating themselves to both harness the powers of the Eternal Mark. Which powers we slowly learned was the key to everything. Quite literally as long as our gods gave us such a mark.. We could combine and change what our abilities could do through nearly infinite ways. We were learning magics, some only thought gods wields. From the starlight above to the deepest of darkness. We bend the will of nature and space. Some in the church are even willing to evolve.. To become “Nightmares” and then some sought to become great conduits of power through full dedication to their faith. As the newborn came to life they already bore the essence of our father. Although initially not blessed. We were slowly becoming “Dernackians” of today. A new breed of our species.
We grew as people and at the beginning it was certain that all should at least be blessed by one Dreaming god. But later on we saw the gift within our newborn to be so in tune with our gods that our youth got the choice of their own to choose the path they wished. Some chose to be blessed and some just ended up being part of the civilization we built and contributing to our glory in their own special way.
Mark Magic
As you know the Eternal Mark gave us so much and then some. One of the greatest gifts we got which I already mentioned briefly was “Mark Magic”. With the Eternal Mark our bodies started developing magical inscriptions and symbols and marks. Flowing across our bodies almost like magical tattoos. At first people had to accept a blessing to gain this but later down the line all Dernackians have Mark Magic by birth available to them.
Mark Magic works by 3 factors:
Active Marks: Marks acting as prime elements and aspects and abilities of something. Needing the influence of a Magician to even utilizing these they can look like an ability or magic that you can create and perform. For example we can have a Mark similar to water which then gives us the ability to conjure water OR fire. Which gives us the ability to use that as well. What more multiple marks can be combined to create an intricate system and create new marks with these other marks to expand our capabilities. These combinations only need understanding and imagination of reality to function. These Marks can range from all the different elements to mental and physical phenomenons. As of yet we haven’t seen a single factor of existence that does not have a piece within the Mark magical table. With the right strategy you could topple armies or nurture entire fields of farms by yourself.
Passive Marks: Passive Marks are passive abilities that can happen without the need for magical input. These marks will almost ALWAYS be a factor as long as their criteria is met. This can be just a passive constant heal or it can be a boon to one's combat ability or physical strength. Maybe you have a mark that gives you the capacity to steal power or strength from an opponent when you win against them? I can’t say how many of these exist. But there are quite a few recorded. One common one within the Eternal Charge is the “Mark of Dominion” which is used by special soldiers to sometimes subjugate and convert weak willed enemy soldiers and implant them either as spies or to gain general intel from them.
Activators or Primers. Activators are only there as a.. Combiner. It’s because of these that some combinations of abilities work. These range from tiny things like glue, merge, buoyancy, splinter, solidify, melt, reverse, intensify and decrease and some others. These are more ideas of ways to how things can interact with other things. Increasing a sun spell’s polarity for example and then intensifying its mass you could potentially create a BLACK HOLE and then use a barrier spell with a merge and you could create a simulated pulling ability.. Where you can guide the blackhole by opening holes of the barrier to then pull everything in that vicinity towards you.
These are just many ways Marks can be used and most likely have more uses than just these. But we can only know so much can’t we?
The Dernackian Marked Focus:
The Marked Focus was a variety of schools of magic Dernackians could take in complementary to the marks that they might have gained and collected. Through these schools they could extend their own capabilities beyond that which their mark limits them to.
The Marked Psyche: Is a school which focuses on all psionic and psychic magics and how they can compliment that with Marks that allow you to extend that to the physic world. From lifting things with your mind. To gravitational manipulation and to mind control and large mental communication networks. (Which is funnily enough the school I partook in. But.. also another one)
The Marked Body: This school has everything to do about the body and the modification and enhancement of it. All from physical combat to growing in size and shrinking. To increase their speed and be able to jump further and even shapeshift and grow extra body parts and more.
The Marked Conjuration: Is everything to do with summoning and how to often shape and control both weapons and undead and demons. But for most part even that of controlling and summoning our so blessed ascended that has gotten to Reform into our glorious Ni’mirin (Nightmares).
The Marked Parasite: This school.. One of many who desire to be closer to our gifted and some even want to connect to family they might have lost. In this school you learn more about the connection with a Ni’mirin Az’in or Parasite. They need a host to survive and so these people offer their bodies willingly. To live in symbiosis and to dedicate their marked abilities they already have more on mastering the use of a Ni’mirin and enhancing their capabilities in battle. These can vary from shapeshifting to living weapons to beasts they can summon from their body. Many Marked parasites live happily and fondly with their Ni’mirin Az’in. I don’t think there’s many who choose this school who regrets that choice. As they have a lifelong friend and family.
The Marked Elementalis: This one is more than one school in one. All elements conjoined into one house. But usually there are subgroups for Fire, Earth, Air, Water, Light and Dark. These are the combination of all elements and is the school most people find themselves in.
The Marked Azeric: The ones who walk in the deepest depths of the unknown and the dark. The void itself. The.. Ever consuming as our gods say. There’s very little we actually know about the Azeric but what we do know is that it’s a source.. Of where all void beings supposedly came from and where most of our gods come from as well.. The Lordina Azerta Voiniktus.. (Void lords as I figured out in recent findings) Our blessed father though? We don’t know.
Whatever the case this is the school where you connect the void and use the most destructive of powers. Things that shouldn’t be. It’s also the most dangerous to perform as it digs deep into our essence as its origin blends naturally with it. It can as easily kill you as much as it empowers you. But if mastered can lead you to the path of ascension further than most could ever dream.
The Marked Hybrid: Is a school people take when they want to learn more than one school. But never to master both. You can choose between two to support you. But usually you do not master any if you take this path. But a combination can be powerful in itself because of flexibility. The only school which you usually do not hybridize is Azeric. Only very few master more than 2. Even if they exist. These are often ancient and have dedicated most of their life to the teachings or their marks and blessings bestow them the ability to do so.
The Marked Conduit: This school is only for a select few which try to reach the highest of honor.. This school dedicates their life to the church in search to become a CONDUIT to our blessed father himself. And to get the blessing to wield parts of his true power. Most who walk this path die. But the most exceptional and exceptionally rare find themselves extra blessed and bestowed upon the gift of eternity and power. This often leads you to sacrifice all that you have and to accept all but the blessed father within their hearts.

So to put it more practical:
The Eternal Mark itself being the.. Blood of our Blessed father himself. It’s the essence he produces. So by merging his with our blood is what gives us its power. It’s said to double all magical output.. And to give you it can both mean power and death. For you see too much of it can cause you to disintegrate to smithereens but with a balance of it. It can give you powers beyond your imagination. Our people though with time grew to adapt to it beyond most species. Which is probably thanks to our already magical affinity for things. And with it we also learnt magic.. Magic envious to even certain gods at times. For with it the imagination is our greatest limiter. Later on we also learned about how far sacrifices also could.. Lead to. But I’ll take that on in another chapter.
We created a magic school system in an attempt to also categorize and even compliment that of our own abilities. If you have probably seen it, I said Lordina Azera Voiniktus.. I finally found the courage to ask one of the Dreaming ones of their origin. Since.. I’m the headmaster of the Dreaming Tick.. Zeratin was thought to be so kind. To tell me about it for archiving purposes.. Saying my work reminds me of her people's old purpose? Whatever that might have meant. But this is a step closer to understanding their origin.. One step closer. We have a name.
There’s so much more to this than I could write in this short chapter. But I am sure if you can find records of this in other examples recorded within the Archives of the Dreaming Tick. Later on I will try to go more in detail on these 3 governing bodies however. Next chapter is probably gonna be about.. The Eternal Charge
What more this next chapter will most likely be one of my heaviest reads and will need extensive research to fully portray it in whole. I particularly shouldn’t leave off any detail that might be fundamental to understand this one.

Next couple of chapters might be a lil bit of a hefty read after this one. Most likely will take longer to make as well x3 But ere' you go. Maybe not professional work. But I am still proud of what I make so far ^^
