rateable values up to PS12,000.
Over the following five years the weak economy and the subsequent fall in rental values means that current rental values bear little resemblance to current
rateable values, GVA said.
Transitional arrangements, however, were implemented which limit the annual increase in 2010/2011 for all areas of the country, including Middlesbrough, to 5% for small properties (those with a
rateable value below pounds 18,000) and 12.5% for large properties (those with a
rateable at or above pounds 18,000.) While being unaware of the specific business concerned, the increase cannot only be due to the changes in the
rateable value or the amount charged per

In Wales, you would only qualify for 50% relief if your business had a
rateable value of pounds 2,400 (yes, pounds 3,600 below the limit for England) and therefore a business with a
rateable value of pounds 6,000 would only get 25% relief.
Businesses with
rateable values of below pounds 5,000 are entitled to 50 per cent rate relief.
