It was assumed that women tend to use hospitals in their
postal code of residence, which is not always the case.
Revealing details of the new system to Gulf News, Khalid Al Ali, secretary-general of SUPC, said that the new
postal code will be a key factor in enhancing the level of postal services available to the public and businesses.
This is likely due to overlapping
postal code areas and the population weight assigned to the block face in which the building is located (i.e., the building may be a high-rise apartment with multiple families).
(But if one uses full state names instead of
postal codes, there are few adjacent states with no letters in common: Ohio-Kentucky, Tennessee-Alabama, Wyoming-Utah.)
Moreover the Center for Spatial Research is also able to offer a number of variables (depending on the region) based on
postal codes including population counts, factors of wealth, number of retail outlets, provision of retail space and more.
Analysts use the demographic characteristics of the majority, census data or the
postal code in which a household is found and estimate its demographical characteristics (Miller, 2007).
A mobile map application for the new
postal code system has also been launched and helps users locate the exact street address.

Postal Code Conversion File (PCCF), Reference Guide.
The first phase of the
postal code project, which is implemented by SUPC in collaboration with the Department of Planning and Survey and the Emirates Post Group, will cover Al Majaz 2 and Al Rahmaniyah 5.
In their commentary, Fuller and Shareck (1) raise a possible important corollary of the Canadian postal service reorganization: because door-to-door postal delivery may be replaced by community mailboxes, the 6-digit
postal code may disappear.
