For example, in all captive-breeding programs involving release of
megapode chicks within a few hours of hatching, nearly all have died.
A further sign of rain during ebenjip is the paeraeb brown-collared brush turkey (Talegalla jobiensis), scratching together vegetation to build up its
megapode mound prior to laying eggs in it.
The proposal was turned down by the ministry last month to protect the habitat of endangered bird Nicobar
Megapode, which is found only in that region.
Further, many are involved in school fund-raising activities; digging
megapode eggs; marketing eggs or fruit in Gizo; and local lineage matters.
There are
megapode mounds in the Albatross Bay area, and these sometimes contain traces of shell originating from nearby middens, but
megapode mounds are clearly distinct in terms of their composition and form from shell mounds built by people.
