Although chemical defence may confer resistance, our experiments and observations suggest that physical barriers, such as hard endocarps (Inocarpus, Terminalia, and Tristiropsis) or seed coats (Caesalpinia bonduc, Entada rheddii, Erythrina variegata, and Strongylodon lucidus) protect some seeds from crabs.
