Currently, there are more than 96,200 commercial projects participating in
LEED in 167 countries and territories.
Some municipalities, state agencies, and federal departments require that new buildings be
LEED certified, says Lyle Axelarris, a structural engineer at Design Alaska and member of the
LEED version 4 Regionalization Task Force, which aims to incorporate regional details in the latest version of
LEED design standards.
LEED administrators are concerned about "a small group of developers or project owners who may take advantage of the
LEED name'' by using their simple registration of intention to build green as an actual
LEED award, said Marisa Long, the USGBC spokeswoman.

LEED or other green initiative standards from taxes.
According to the organisers, this is a recommended course for those wishing to learn about green building concepts and the
LEED rating systems, and those who will take the
LEED Green Associate exam.
The changes will be phased in throughout 2009 starting in February with beta testing for the
LEED Green Associate exam and the
LEED AP Operations & Maintenance exams.

LEED audience, but to convene it into one established credential:

On April 27, 2009, the United States Green Building Council ("USGBC") will launch a new Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design ("
LEED") rating system, which will alter the landscape of green building design and construction in the United States.

LEED)-certified buildings throughout the nation and 3,400 others working towards
LEED Certification with the U.S.
