Industrial effluents containing different types of toxic heavy metal
ions are major sources of water pollution.
According to a recent study published by Taiwan's Forestry Bureau, a forest park situated in the mountainous areas of Sanxia District of New Taipei City contains a far higher concentration of negative
ions than any other national forest park in the country.
"MAVEN has made the first direct detection of the permanent presence of metal
ions in the ionosphere of a planet other than Earth," said Joseph Grebowsky of NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland.
