Whereas the prefrontal
engram cells, with support from hippocampal memory
engram cells, become functionally mature with time, hippocampal
engram cells gradually became silent.
The best and most powerful weapons are of the Legendary and Exotic variety, mostly found by decoding
engrams received as rewards for various activities in the game, both player vs environment (PvE) and player vs player (PvP).
Despite these cosmic shifts, Teddy maintains the painful memory
engrams of his previous existence.
The piece next up,
Engrams for string quartet, composed in 2011, is even more encased in the sound of unconventional techniques of playing.
The
engrams, or memory traces, of this particular experience are known to be located in the dentate gyrus of the hippocampus, a key brain area for memory processing.
Earlier in the book, NourbeSe Philip specifies that by "memory" she means not only
engrams in the brain but also memories encoded at the cellular level: "the smallest cell / remembers / a sound." What we today call muscle memory captures a great deal, if not all, of what Philip means here.
But these substances interfere with the formation of
engrams (a substrate of long-term and associative memory), interfere with learning and can cause drug dependency and intellectual performance involvement (Algieri et al, 2014; Buckingham, 2003; Duart & Sandra, 2000; Geddes, 2004).
The study, carried out by researchers at MIT and the Riken Brain Science Institute in Japan, used blue light pulses to stimulate "memory
engrams," the neurons that are activated as memories are formed.
The creation of a memory, a representation that remains into the mind, happens through the excitation of afferent neurons to different brain areas, called
engrams. So, when we remember, we rebuild that memory by stimulating a neural circuit that is never equal to the previous one because, in the meantime, experience has been producing new representations (Gomez Paloma, 2009).
In other words, far from being static
engrams stored somewhere in our brains in whole-cloth, memories are bits and pieces, stored in multiple places, reassembled and filled out, as needed, to form a narrative.
Man's problems today are attributable to "
engrams," or the mental memory of painful experiences caused by the presence of thetans on our humanly bodies, which one can get rid of only through a process of spiritual "auditing," a sort of counseling session performed on a low-rent lie-detector machine called an "E-Meter." Those who join Scientology often end up spending vast sums on auditing and other Church gimmicks, leading detractors to characterize Scientology as a pyramid scheme in which members pay ever-vaster sums of money to ascend the Church's "Operating Thetan levels." A typical story involves the grief-stricken, 73-year-old widow who took on a $45,000 mortgage to pay for auditing after Scientologists preyed upon her following the death of her husband.
Scientologists say every person has their own thetan, but it is threatened by "
engrams" - souls left over from the cull.
Psychomotor areas of the cerebral cortex is planning and is programming the movement by planning the ideation plan of motric action in Brodmann area 40 (supramarginal gyrus) being transmitted in psychomotor centers which construct the movement
engrams (Brodmann areas 6(3 and 8) and, finally, is being transferred to cerebral hemispheres motor areas of the same or opposite cerebral hemisphere through the corpus callosum.
