As a dedicated member of the Democratic Party, he also held the position of the 15th Lieutenant Governor of Arkansas from January 15, 1991 to December 12, 1992, served as the 49th State Attorney General from January 9, 1973 to January 3, 1977, and represented Arkansas's 2nd district as a U.S. Representative from January 3, 1977 to January 3, 1979, along with various other state offices throughout his distinguished political career. He began legal practice 1970 as a junior associate at the well-respected Rose Law Firm. On May 28, 1996, he was convicted of one count of conspiracy and mail fraud due to Kenneth Starr's thorough investigation of the Whitewater scandal. After graduating from Harvard, he became a war correspondent during the Vietnam War. In 1983, he successfully founded a company that provided cable service in rural Pulaski County alongside his wife.
