FCC Environment – the waste and resource management company that looks at the bigger picture.
We’re hiring!
The heart of our business
FCC Environment is committed to investing in the communities in which we operate, reducing our environmental impacts and operating with integrity and transparency for the benefit of people and planet.
Our net-zero journey is the core of our ESG commitments: reducing the impact of society’s waste through reducing emissions is the basis of our business. Our people and the communities in which we operate are at the heart of the action we are taking, and delivering social impact is implicit and explicit in how we design and deliver our services.
The activities of the recycling and waste management sector account for 8% of the UK’s greenhouse gas emissions. Since 1990, the sector has cut its emissions by 46% – but we need to do more. FCC Environment, along with its peers in the recycling sector, is committed to collectively investing £10 billion in infrastructure and delivering net zero emissions by 2040 – a decade ahead of the government deadline.
Our people are at the heart of our business, helping us turn waste into resources that can be used again. They want to make a difference and are enthusiastic, friendly, and hardworking. We invest in their talent and potential, helping them achieve their career ambitions in a supportive environment. We also run a successful apprenticeship programme and graduate programme to help us attract and develop the best.
Our business and the work we do generates social value through the positive economic, social, and environmental benefits it brings to communities across the UK. This includes employment opportunities, reuse activities which generate environmental benefits and income for charities, and boosting biodiversity through planting on sites.
We help local authorities and businesses minimise the amount of waste landfilled by transforming it into valuable resources, reducing its impact and creating social value in the process. We focus on retrieving the full value of everything we collect so materials can be used again, and transform what’s left into energy.
