When I was standing guard at Trafalgar Square, I used to get sick of all the locals.
All the whining.
All the backchat.
All the noise.
The worst decision I ever made was to request reassignment.
They sent me all the way down here.
I'll tell you now, I'd much rather be watching over a bunch of idiots than a pile of corpses.
Their cold, dead faces... Even when I look away, they haunt my thoughts.
At least it's quiet, though.
Sometimes too quiet, but it's better than being on the frontlines.
We don't get many troublemakers around here.
Tunnel Cough has its way of keeping the peace.
All I can do now is stay healthy and serve my time.
I'd happily spend the rest of my days breathing in the Eastminster stink if I could.
