Am I the only one who thinks this particular pressing sounds like trash? Muddy, muffled, zero soundstage, horrible imaging, not dynamic sounding at all. The vocals in the beginning of The Noose sounds like they recorded them from behind a door. Choruses are a cacophony of all the tracks at once. There’s no separation or articulation. All the music is right on top of you with no room to breathe. Garbage pressing in my opinion.
Definitely great mastered record. I have always heard this on digital media (CD and streaming). This record does not sound flat compared to what’s on streaming. There is punch and good well defined bass. The top end extension could’ve been better.
My main complaints are: 1. It’s noisy! Even after multiple cleans, the record has quite a lot if pops/crackles. 2. Inner groove distortion. 50 min split across 4 sides is a fair usage of disc space. IGD should not be an issue (esp on my mid tier elliptical stylus).
Happy to own the record. It’s one of the last hard rock infused art rock records that sounds brilliant.
Noticeable static on the outer grooves, mostly on the first track of each side, on Side A/B it’s very audible on the right channel, on Side C/D on the left channel.
It gets much better the further the needle progresses inwards, but my pressing is far from perfect and flat, which is a shame for a record this good.
Listening on phones, vinyl is clean and generally sounds good, though there is a little distortion in the inner tracks, which is odd since the runout are so big.
