The physical presentation is also highly commendable, featuring a solid jacket, generous extras, and beautifully flat, silent vinyl that provides a dead-quiet background. However, the 2015 Giles Martin remixes presented here result in a noticeably inconsistent listening experience. Because the compilation acts as a chronological tour of rapidly evolving recording technology, the mastering quality fluctuates, with sound quality ranging from just okay to genuinely great. While it is a solid package, the Red and Blue collections ultimately offer a more cohesive and preferable listening experience.

To achieve a warm, non-fatiguing presentation and combat the sharp digital sheen of these modern remixes, significant equalization is required. A 28Hz high-pass filter protects amplifier headroom, while a heavy low-end boost (80Hz PK, +2.5 dB, Q: 1.5) provides essential physical weight, making Paul's bass lines on tracks like "Something" and "Get Back" sound incredibly full and clear. A lower-midrange bump (300Hz PK, +1.0 dB, Q: 1.0) restores vintage analog body. Because the vocals in this mix are pushed so aggressively forward, any hardware-level midrange attenuation should be left to do its job without electronic interference (leaving the 3.2kHz band flat at 0 dB). Finally, to completely kill the uncomfortable sibilance and piercing tambourine strikes on tracks like "Hey Jude," a massive, sweeping cut to the upper frequencies is necessary (6.5kHz PK, -4.5 dB, Q: 0.8). This aggressive top-end roll-off eliminates the harshness, allowing the rich, church-like organs and thick late-era bass tones to beautifully dominate the acoustic space.

Not a fan. However, you can't take away what The Beatles represent. Sound isn't great.

I’ll get to the point – I’m not a Beatles fan – I wasn’t even born yet when their career came to an end. But I will give credit where it’s due. They indeed created so many fantastic songs. They were musical pioneers.
When I saw this album on vinyl in a music store, I knew I just had to pick it up. I knew every one of these songs (obviously by osmosis). I’m so happy to have it in my collection.

Wonderful compilation of the Beatles' greatest. The remasters in this sound much better than previous remasters. They're much closer to the original tapes and sound less harsh. My only complaint is that the volume in the tracks can be inconsistent at times. For example, Come Together is very quiet, while Something, right before it, is very loud. But otherwise this is a great collection. Good mastering and pressing quality. If you're looking for the definitive Beatles record, this is it.

Not even CD quality. How can so many people think this sounds good? It sucks.

In reference to a 1-1-9 variant, as if it really matters. Peter Mew(tilator) and his sonic solutions no noise and the 24bit to 16bit super shaping to make every song sound the same... just like the R.I.A.A. curve!

Anyone know the difference between Peter Mew’s 2000 and Miles Showell’s 2015 masterings, thanks.

Excellent SQ for the format, a quality compilation too !

These are remixes by Giles Martin, the son of George Martin. It's also remastered. The sound quality is great, but some of the mixes are failures. Most notably "Get Back" where the drums are mixed very low. Also "Come Together" has very low volume level compared to the other tracks. I don't know if this was a mistake, but I checked on Spotify and it's the same there. For me, it's a pass.
