Elton John – Peachtree Road

Peachtree Road is Elton & Bernie at their very best. Had this CD since it was released and I even saw Elton when he was touring behind this album. There's a definite sonic difference from the CD because the LP is like listening to this in stereo bliss. Acoustic guitars sound amazing separated, Elton's singing sounds more natural, and the bass balance is great (the CD seems to have more bass). Wonderful gatefold sleeve, photos, and liner note from Bernie. My only criticism: Only three non-CD tracks. They are good songs though but would've loved some live tracks (perhaps the whole album?) but I'm being greedy which I tend to do with Elton. Peachtree Road is a great addition to any Elton John collection and this LP is at the top for great sonics and packaging.

This is one of my most favourite Elton albums and I'm quite happy with this release. Records are clean enough with very little surface noise. Sounds pretty detailed to me.
The only thing I don't like is the cover photo, I'd prefer the CD versions cover instead.

Sounds considerably better than the original pressing, which if you don’t have it will put you back $500 now. It’s still not amazing but neither is the CD or SACD. It’s more the mix than the master/press. Frustrating, considering I really love this LP.

While not the most spectacular recording, this record sounds as good as I have heard it. I always liked the album, but the cd had a very lifeless quality to it. This version opens the top end up and sounds much more lively. Elton’s voice is clear. The low end, which some here complain about, is full and in the wrong system would likely come across a bit muddy and thick. I am very happy with this release and it is one of the best reissues I have purchased in the last year. It it for the most part a quiet pressing although there are a few clicks here and there.

Hard to complain about the price when you jump over to the original vinyl release and see what it's selling for. I'm happy to pay $45 versus $450 to get a vinyl pressing that may not be anything special but it does sound fantastic on my system.

In my opinion, this is a fantastic pressing! The dynamics on his release are really good—full bass, clear and present vocals, and Elton's piano sounds brilliant. The vinyl is flat and dead silent, but once again the records were sent in printed paper inner sleeves. For a $40+ album, it would be great if labels could just send out the records in poly sleeves. (Neil Young's new Toast release comes with glossy paper inner sleeves, but the records are housed inside their own poly sleeves next to the printed inners—this is perfect!)

Overall, I'd highly recommend this release if you're a fan of this period of Elton's career and can stomach the high price tag.

there is a trace on the back of the cover, like a stain, a record mark. Is it printed on purpose?

Not sure why this is so pricey. Not half-speed mastered or “audiophile” quality. Not very dynamic. Not worthy of hefty price.

This reissue has way too much bass and suffers from an echo effect. The mids are very held back. The One reissue suffers from the same.

It seems to be scheduled for re-release on July 8 finally.
