Progressive Trance
When did Progressive Trance "start"? Had to be while Epic House ran out of energy and is creators took to a higher bpm and more trance sound. Here's a rough chronological draft of the tracks, mixes, and labels involved from 1997-2000.
"Progressive trance often very close to the musically progressive house is a style of Trance appeared well after acid trance, goa, and hard trance. Progressive trance is melodious but without synth arpeggios & less vocals. With a beat and a bassline faster to the house (134-142 BPM), the songs are long and have an interesting construction where different elements are brought gradual and gentle way (hence the name of this style). First down compared to the Uplifting, this style has become the style of Trance most likely at the end of the decade 2000-2010."~discogs definition
"Progressive trance emerged in the 1990s, in Western European countries, from the combination of Trance and Progressive House. It has a lower average bpm than typical trance (around 130 bpm instead of 140-160 bpm) and a recurrent melodic structure, which uses Tribal House and Breakbeat sounds. Progressive trance became very popular on the world's dance floors by the end of the millennium and it was played by very popular DJs like Sasha, Paul van Dyk, Oliver Lieb, Paul Oakenfold."~RYM Definition
