Kaiser Chiefs – Employment

Sound is pretty good, no noticeable difference from the CD. Record did need a wet cleaning of some noise and static. The printed inner and gatefold are absolutely beautiful.

Decent pressing of what has become a classic album.
There is some surface noise but it is not that obvious due to the qutie dense instrumentation. You can notice it between tracks.
Good separation of instruments, it breathes but still has the kick it needs.
That being said, there is the issue of inner groove distortion, wich hits quite hard on tracks like 'Oh my God' ; 'Take my temperature' or 'Sink that Ship' on the second record. That could be due to the maybe overcrowded soundstage pressed on a single side (6, 7 tracks per side).
Would have been amazing to have the album and bonus material spread on 4 records, but that would have made it more expensive, as in a boxset.
The bonus material record his filled with gems, feels like a new Kaiser Chiefs album without the millenial pop they've been pushing in the latest released material. Enjoy new songs with their classic vibe and sound.
Anyway, get your hands on the record if you're a Kaisers fan.

I've noticed on streaming platforms that the demo version of Saturday Night has a weird glitch at the start - can anyone confirm if it's the same on the CD? It would be a real shame if it was

Very nice edition! The sound is great and the artwork is superb. Some of the b-sides easily could be a-sides and the demos are fine as well.

Pleasantly surprised with this pressing. Sounds just like it should. It's probably the best sounding one I have from that whole era of British indie rock

Let me preface this with - I've only listened to side A as I'm an avid Gran Turismo 4 fan and the main song I love from this album is "I Predict a Riot" and I only really know that and "Everyday I love you less and less" exceptionally well.

This sounds brilliant, it's not the best album I've ever heard from a sound quality point of view but I suspect as per the other two reviews that it's a hit and miss/roll the dice. It is at least cheap enough to be considered if you like the album in that regard.

At normal listening levels there is very minimal background noise between tracks, that cannot be heard. If you crank the volume you will of course hear this more. Overall the pressing sounds how I'd expect it to having a very warm and uncompressed sound. There is no harshness in the sound and it feels full.

I'm always very pleased and a little surprised when albums like this get a decent vinyl release so long after their brief moment in the popular consciousness is long over. It gives the impression of listening to a CD with some slight surface noise between songs to let you know what format you are listening to. Pretty much the best you can hope for from a vinyl re-issue of a record from the early-mid aughts.

I certainly did not have the negative experience of the first reviewer which probably makes this another of those all so common "roll the dice" vinyl buys that are all too common in today's market.

This is not the best pressing of this album! It sounds noisy and like everything that GZ Media presses , poorly pressed on the cheap! I don’t know why these artist are allowing their work to be pressed at this facility! It’s precisely why I have dropped my VMP membership! They also use this Czech Republic pressing plant and if I had known that this album was pressed there, I wouldn’t have purchased it!

Turntable is a ClearAudio Concept with a Ebony V2 Maestro cartridge that cost $1,500 to replace because of another poorly pressed album! Turntable was around $1,200 brand new but it has gone way up in price as the vinyl resurgence started. It’s definitely not my equipment, it’s just this crappy GZ Media pressing. They seem to be better pressed when it’s an expensive album. I guess it’s about the money! I have complained as have others.

Luckily I didn’t spend but $20.00 on this pressing. I wouldn’t have purchased this copy if I had known that it was pressed there! Everything gets cleaned buy vacuum cleaning before it gets added to my collection. Going to look for a different vinyl copy that’s better sounding. Luckily I have a copy of this album on Japanese CD format. It gets played through my Oppo - UDP205 media player that upconverts everything. I will have to buy a different copy of this as I think it’s a good album, but pressing is poorly done!

Interestingly, I have a copy of this with a "WINNER BRIT 2006 AWARDS" sticker in the bottom right corner. Wonder if that's worthy enough to be its own release?

Brilliant album. Liked it so much I bought it on every format released including standard cd, the box set and the LP.
